Just had a meal at the commodore Kewstoke, we live locally and use the commodore regularly. Just had a really bad experience. Wasn’t completely happy with our meal but it wasn’t major. But when we were asked for our comments, couldn’t believe the attitude of the man that we can only assume was the manager. He was extremely rude.and said he couldn’t understand what we were getting worked up about.
This man obviously doesn’t have any customer stills whatsoever.
Thank Gerald

Aaaah Mr Lock I have been waiting for your review as it was rather obvious you would be putting a negative review on social media. I thank you for being a regular customer at the Commodore although neither myself OR any of the staff recognised you, and indeed if you were indeed a customer regular or otherwise you would have been well aware of what position I hold within the hotel. Your table agreed there was nothing wrong with the food but due to an oversight we had no mint sauce available to go with your lamb for which we had already apologised AND had explained the situation to you (there were also plenty of other dishes available for you to choose having already been given the information supplied) Now when you again brought the subject up you subjected a female member of staff with a torrent of suggestions and constant loud detrimental comments I understand you think I have no customer sKills but the five tables surrounding the bar and your table also (after laughing at your level of being upset over something so trivial ) all seemed to understand our point of view and two of the tables even tried to apologise for you?? I’m not saying your point was incorrect but your attitude and demeanour certainly were, please do not expect me to be friendly towards you when you are being obnoxious Many thanks for your review Peter Tulley

Booking and communication was excellent.
Arrival and staff welcome, comment and advice, was exemplary.
Room was on the small side of OK.
Room was tired and noisy.
Kid cycling in the rooms corridor was unfortunate and not really the hotels fault, but was part of our overall experience of the hotel.
The noise from other guests was most unwelcome, particularly late at night - the room door appeared to do little to diminish the noise. The neighboring room noise was also disappointing - Glad there was no function on in the function room below..
The bed was OK, the room itself was OK - but the nice large bathroom window was hugely spoilt by being clear glass !! (I thought this was particularly poor, overlooking, as it does, the adjacent road and footpath !)
The room & bathroom, whilst clean, is tired and in need of some freshening up. Cobwebs were also surprising.
Noise wise; Sunday night was better than Saturday night.
The meals were superb, basic (as is my personal preference) but very nice, very well cooked, sensible portions and served by excellent staff. Priced fairly.
The hotel location suffered from road noise which was a shame, but otherwise quite nice. Perhaps spoilt by unwelcome smokers occupying the hotel entrance area with no consideration for others :( .. The building is large, comfortable and interesting with some nice touches, like sofa's and marine features throughout.

Great staff, great food, not too expensive, reasonably located but tired and in need of some freshening up.
1 Thank xrwoody

Firstly, the Commodore has some of the best employees you could ask for, all very courteous and helpful. The Hotel itself though is a bit tired.

Check-in was painless with the young lady on the reception telling us all we needed to know. We were shown our room, which for £80 was a bit disappointing. We put this down to their being a Wedding on at the same time so likely the 'best' rooms had already gone.

That's said, they were clean, it was just the decor that needed refreshing.

The shower water pressure was poor and the water pump made a lot of noise when least expected which woke us up a few times.

Although we didn't eat in the Commodore the Saturday night roast looked really good.

Finally, I am a dog lover but the amount that were in the Restaurant was a bit over the top and would put off any potential non-dog lover looking to eat.
Thank Steve B

What a lovely hotel!
Lovely staff, and lovely staff.
The hotel itself is clean, if somewhat tired with the decor and furniture.
This is in no way a complaint, but more of an observation.
The situation of the hotel is lovely also, with the dunes and beach opposite.
Well done to the owner and staff!!!
Thank Mattyhempstead
