Used as a base whilst visiting Weston carnival and See Monster. I knew what to expect so no surprises.. room was warm and clean, food was good if you actually managed to stand long enough to get to the counter. Over 700 people were being served by just 2 food counters and only 1 bar! Queen Vic bar and entertainments venue still closed, staff shortages obvious everywhere.
Monday to Friday in Standard Chalet, filthy carpet so dirty that I kept my socks on, even if basic chalets should be clean. Don't think these have been renovated since the 70s Entertainment was very especially Zac Bauman who was on one afternoon should have been the evening entertainment instead it was Top Hat and Tails dreadful drag show and I don't go to Pontins for this sort of entertainment. Food was mostly good apart from stone cold breakfast every day! That should have been Hot. Swimming Pool still none existent should be removed from Web Page
Went expecting the worst after reading reviews. It wasn't the best but again it wasn't the worst. Room was clean, large and comfortable. Only complaint was the shower can't edge was very black Food was edible but nothing was labelled to say what we were eating. A choice of three meals, one being vegetarian. Plenty of of salad so you wouldn't starve. Major problems were wet, cold plates so the food was cold before you finished. Dessert was choice of gateaux every night We went to a 60 tribute weekend but only one act per night. If you didn't grab a seat before 7.30 you didn't get one. Bar prices were reasonable. We had to sit in the lounge so we could hear but not see. Entertainment appeared to be good Advantages to pontins sand bay is that it is all flat and very disabled friendly and there is a bus stop right outside Overall we had a good weekend. We went with low expectations and it was better than we were expecting. Wouldn't dismiss going again but it wouldn't be my first choice…
Another long weekend at Sand Bay at a bargain price for what you get. Accommodation good, food good, entertainment fair (cut backs obvious), no Queen Vic bar or usual games, facilities limited (no swimming, jacuzzi, sauna, or steam). Poor choice of younger staff who seemed bored with entertaining an older clientele.
Just back from a 3 night stay all round a lovely stay . Only thing I need to bring up as a negative is the vegetarian option. Only one alternative other than salad was usually pasta and I don't like pasta or anything tomato based so had to have the salad for 2 out of 3 evening meals however the nut roast on sunday was cooked to perfection. Very enjoyable. Maybe you could put your vegetarian option choice on the wall with the other menu then I can make a choice to go out for food if I need to.
Staying at Pontins right now gotta say for the money we paid excellent value !! Fully cooked English breakfast included also with your evening meal , the steak and ale pie was amazing !!! Best I’ve had , so tasty !! The resort is very clean always cleaners about , bars very cheap/ reasonable !! Staff very friendly !! Our chalet is one that hasn’t been regenerated yet but bath/shower and bed sheets all clean !! Im in my 40 my son in his 20 we have booked to come back found a cheap deal and got an extra 10 percent off cos we booked whilst on site !! Highly recommended it’s adults only extra bonus 😃
The room was very basic with no fridge to keep milk in. The food in the restaurant was only ever warm and not hot. Good selection of food. Evening entertainment was definitely for the over 60’s and this place was full of older people. It was close to Weston super mare and only 30 minute drive to cheddar gorge. it is not a place a youngish couple should come to. Staff in restaurant/bar were lovely and friendly. The car park was very far away from the chalets and whilst I am able to walk unaided I felt sorry for the older people with walking frames who were having to struggle to take there suitcases to there chalets as you could not park outside any of them. There was a designated disabled bay but I noticed most days that the workmen were parking there cars in there which was disgraceful!!…
Shally was disgusting dust and grime everywhere the room smelt of damp the floors hadn’t been cleaned for months cobwebs every where, could not get out of there fast enough first and last time we go to a pontins the hole place is grimy disgusting.
Warm clean chalets, good food, lovely staff. Visited with my mom sister brother in law and husband had a brilliant time and didn’t have to pay the earth. Half board with entertainment we only paid £100 each for 4 days. Liked it so much we booked again for next Easter.
We stayed for the week and honestly couldn't fault it. Stayed in apartment 94 which was out the way of the main building. Was packed with ppl of all ages. Food was wonderful as ever. Queue was not too bad and staff was more than happy to help if something was running low. Cheap clean and comfortable. Most ppl expect 5 star but this really is excellent value for money. We hope to return in October
