We had a large group stay for a few nights at had an excellent time. The hosts were outstanding, full of information and helped us however they could. Patrick even cut down some "Irish" bamboo from his garden for a martial arts demonstration we were to perform in the next few days in Kilkenny. Don't miss the castle - we'll be back!

Amazing hen weekend with 47 girls catered for in the Castle, a nearby air b&b and in Springford Hall. Whole castle to ourselves with 3 social areas/ rooms, dance floor and a bar. Sheila was a pleasure to deal with and allowed early entry on Thursday to get set up. We had live music and food truck on Sat night for our Henfest theme. Mike catered brekkie both mornings and Friday dinner, he was so helpful and couldn't do enough for us. A truly memorable hen weekend with tge girls

We had a family gathering at the castle and it was a beautiful weekend. The castle and the grounds are absolutely fabulous. The castle had plenty space and had everything required for the weekend, Sheila and Patrick were always on hand if you needed them but gave you great privacy at the same time, what wonderful hosts. The castle is a short walk to the village of Castletownroche which has supermarkets and pubs and the locals are very friendly. I could not recommend this place highly enough and if you are looking for a wedding venue, hosting a party or having a family gathering, this is the place to have it.

We got married in Blackwater Castle, and we had the most incredible experience. Sheila and Patrick were by far the most accommodating hosts we have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. With the difficult situation during 2020, they were constantly providing us with up-to-date information all the way through the year and went above and beyond to help us have the most amazing wedding we could imagine. Their friendliness is second to none, and the venue itself is just astounding. You have the opportunity to cater your wedding or event to suit your exact needs which really gives you an opportunity to have a unique experience. We couldn't recommend a better wedding venue.

We rented the castle for our September wedding and could not have been more pleased. Sheila and Patrick are extremely accommodating and helpful throughout the planning process and always able to help during the stay, but also allow you and your family to feel it’s your place during your time there. The castle is magical with beautiful grounds and extensive accommodations that allowed our family and friends from the states and Ireland to stay together. The local town is charming with a pub, convenience store, etc. We could not have had a better wedding and loved our stay so much that everyone is hoping to go back for a family reunion in a few years!

We held our wedding at Blackwater Castle in August and everyone had the most amazing time! It's an intimate space which definitely becomes home for the time that you're there. We booked the venue for 3 days which was a great idea, we had time to set things up the day before the wedding and enjoy the castle that night. We also had the day after the wedding which was great too because things felt nice and relaxed. Sheila and Patrick were brilliant, so lovely to work with, really accommodating and helpful. Michael and Eileen were brilliant too, they managed the bar and staffing, and everything ran so smoothly. The castle is stunning, such an interesting venue with lots of history and charm. There is plenty of space for guests and the gardens are beautiful too. I can't recommend this venue enough, it's a really special place!

brillant venue for family get together and get away. we stayed 3 nights but would have stayed longer if possible. The lovely Parick always available on site if required. Questions and tours no problem. we self catered and it was fun but catering can be organised if required.

We celebrated my best friends hen party at Blackwater castle and I think it’s fair to say all the girls were absolutely blown away by the venue. Sheila and Patrick couldn’t have been more helpful from the moment I sent them an enquiry to the time we left the castle. They even offered to give me access to the castle the day before our rental to allow time to decorate and get organised for our event which I really appreciated. The castle itself is absolutely beautiful and was the perfect size for our group of 21. The Setting is also stunning and the village which is walking distance is equally charming. The well equipped kitchen allowed us to prepare our own afternoon tea which we enjoyed on the scenic private terrace and the gardens and local village offered the perfect setting for our hen party games. Everyone we encountered was so friendly and the local pubs are great. All the bedrooms are large and en suite so the girls had plenty of space for getting ready in the evening. The numerous reception rooms in the castle are also very large and we organised for one to be set up as a studio for some professional pictures as a keepsake for the bride which also worked really well. Mike and Eileen looked after the catering on the night and were absolutely fantastic. The castle also boasts its own bar so we were able to serve up our own gin bar and dance the night away in total privacy. Everyone had a brilliant time and I honestly couldn’t recommend this venue highly enough. Thank you again to everyone at Blackwater castle for helping to make sure the bride-to-be and her hens had an excellent weekend we will never forget

We got married at the castle this week in the walled garden. Our minds as well as our guests minds were blown out of the water with how truly amazing the castle is in person. Pictures don’t do it justice. Patrick is so full of knowledge and history. And Sheila always has your best interest at heart. The caretakers beyond took care of us and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was truly one of a kind. Us as well as all of our guests have agreed we’ll be going back as an anniversary travel. Couldn’t have picked a better location to marry my best friend.

I got to celebrate my 50th Birthday like a queen in my own castle and it was fantastic. (Halloween fancy dress!). I got the freedom and flexability of a house party, with the luxury and comfort of the castle. Shiela and Patrick were brilliant and they realy know their stuff. Eileen and Mike took all the work out of it, so we all enjoyed every minute. We had 30 guests on the Friday having a ball decorating. We hoisted our flag over the Drs Tower before sunset and Eileen cooked us a beautiful supper that night, as well as breakfast on Sat and Sun mornings. The castle rooms are huge and comfortable. A caterer, recommended by Sheila, cooked a wonderful dinner for 70 guests in the well equipped kitchen on Saturday and we dined in the stone room (kids) and yellow room (adults). We had the bar well stocked. Mike's advice was spot on. Almost everyone stayed. The apartment and dorms were perfect. And it was lovely to meet with everyone again Sunday morning for breakfast. The Best Party Ever. Roll on 60!
