We stopped over for two nights to have a brief look at the Ring of Kerry. We were warmly greeted by Joan who gave us a couple of good tips to avoid the worst tourist traps and see some unusual sights - ask her about a trip through Black Valley!

The room was large with a nicely sized bathroom and an incredibly comfortable queen size bed, and Joan turned out a very nice fried breakfast each morning. There is a large lounge downstairs attached to an even bigger kitchen/dining room with fridges, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and everthing you need for an attack of the midnight munchies.

This is great value for money, and is perfectly located for the Ring of Kerry.

Myself and my parents stayed at Douglasha house bed and breakfast where I stayed before and decided to stay here again as it's in a wonderful location within driving distance of town and walking distance of restaurant and shops etc.
The accomodation is very comfortable and feels like a home away from home as Joan the landlady makes you feel so welcome and always makes sure her guests have plenty to eat etc and is happy with everything.
Nothing is a problem for Joan as she always goes that extra mile for her guests.
There are lots of accomodation options for guests from b and b to self catering, mobile homes etc.
10 out of 10 from me.
Feels more homely than hotels and better.

Joan and her team were amazing-nothing was too much trouble. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The kitchen facilities were excellent with everything you need to cook a meal. Breakfast is freshly cooked to order and served on very hot plates.
Our dog was made welcome and slept happily in his bed in our room. Kennels are available if needed.

We have been recommended to Joan's place through Liz from Green Acres Guesthouse. It was a great stay and Joan's husband Tony and two of his friends where able to temporary fix a problem with our motorcycle, so we where able to continue our Ireland trip. Thanks a lot and we enjoyed our stay very much though it was a little rainy =:-)

This Guesthouse exudes perfection -
such a tasty breakfast and magnificent shower.
Joan & Tony are consummate experts in the culture of hospitality. To stay at this Establishment would be worthy of a trip to Killarney in itself.

Good Luck

Our favorite stay in Ireland! Joan was welcoming, kind, enthusiastic, and helpful! Great recommendations for EVERYTHING! Helpful hints to do and not to do. Extremely clean and tidy. Very quiet. Breakfast was delicious and lots of options. Felt like home away from home. We loved chatting with Joan. Very helpful to have the ability to do a load of laundry.

Had an absolutely fabulous stay in Douglasha House. Myself and a friend stayed for two nights with five children and it was truly a home from home experience. Joan is fantastic, so friendly, welcoming, and I can honestly say went above and beyond making our stay the best experience. The breakfast was exceptional. Thank you Joan - we’ll be back for sure.

If you are travelling by car then I doubt you will find better value for money than Douglasha House, which is located less than 10 minutes from the town centre. Joan, the owner, will go out of her way to accommodate your every need. The rooms are spacious, modern and even offer a small fridge. The bed is comfortable and the breakfast will satisfy you. Douglasha House will not disappoint

This was the least expensive of our B & Bs during our recent visit to Ireland but this was reflected in the quality of the accommodation. We were assigned a room under the eaves (sloping ceiling, window in ceiling) which was so small that the furniture hardly fitted. No where comfortable to sit. Perhaps we were unlucky because a peep into the other rooms revealed more spacious accommodation. A number of minor irritations added up: no wifi despite repeated attempts; no television until I worked out that the plug switch in the wall behind the dresser was in the off position and worked out how to manage the three remotes; fairly long waits for service at breakfast (Joan seemed somewhat overwhelmed especially on the second day); one hair dryer for the entire house; room not ready at 3:30 pm despite the website promise of 2:00 pm. Joan was loquacious and anxious to please, the breakfast room was pleasant and food plentiful.
