Strong [v], average [o] and weak [x] points of this hotel are: [v] Contemperary architecture / new building; [v] Quiet neighborhood; [v] Friendly staff at the reception (in the restaurant as well); [o] Food is rather basic. Drinks are to be obtained by buying a voucher at the reception, which is according to my personal standards a little bit strange; [x] The hotel concept has (too) many similarities to that of a youth hostel; [x] Strange rooms without a proper window or ventilation;

On our recent trip we stopped at several similar places and this was the most expensive of those, so I was expecting a higher standard. The very small village of Saint-Ours does not have much within its boundaries as the address suggests it is right by the church. On arrival we were greeted by the friendly and helpful receptionist whose English was much better than I think she thought! Breakfast was already included but we were persuaded to purchase our evening meal on the premises as well which whilst convenient was probably not the best idea.The basic meal in excess of 10 Euros was more about what we could not have. The only plus was the starter which was help yourself to salad ( if you opted for the other option you got a slice of melon).. Main was a small fillet of fish or a single toulouse sausage with some green beans. Dessert a yoghurt. Drink water. In the rooms there were no drink making facilities you could purchase from a machine in reception coffee, chocolate (except it was empty) or a small selection of cold drinks. No free wifi and no TV in the room you could get access sitting in reception near the TV there. The BIG BIG problem was noise. The church chimed every half an hour and worse than that was a wedding disco that started at 11.30pm and went full blast into the early hours. The bed was quite hard and uncomfortable making it a very poor night to try and sleep. Breakfast had a nice selection of fresh bread and finally access to the coffee and orange juice. I supplied my own tea bag and used the hot water. Hence the title because the noise from the wedding was not within the hotels control but other issues like the food and lack of drinks making would still bring the score down. The price I presume is on the high side because of the area near to Volcania theme park, Volvic water source and Puy de Dome.
