Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A nice, different place to stay in downtown Hämeenlinna. Review based on a one-night stay in March’22 (background of spending 80+ nights per year in different hotels around the globe). Location: Quite well located just on the border of city center, away from the main commotion but still just a short walk away from the restaurants, shops and bars. The main bus station close by, distance to the railway station 1.5km. With car the E12 highway is very easily reachable. Room: Had a room at the ground floor next to the main entrance. On the smaller side but enough for a single night without any big luggage etc. Some issues with soundproofing though, as the room has just a regular thin door to the corridor. So it was rather obvious every time somebody entered the building or went out. Having said that, luckily there was not really any major problem. Room was very clean, no signs of usage anywhere. Etc: Good breakfast served to the table. Check-in & out was very efficient. Would I return there? Yes sure, a nice place offering something else than the regular big hotel experience

As their B&B was fully booked during medieval fair, the owner heartfully recommened my family their two-room appartment in central Hämeenlinna instead. She described it as extremely comfortable beautifully decorated and modern flat in a good location near the fair. In truth once we entered the flat it smelled strongly as tobaco. The flat was extremely moderately decorated, nothing near the quality to the other B&B rooms they advertice. The overall the condition of the appartment is poor, for instance trash bags were absent, bedlinen and pillows stained yellow and too small for the sofabed. For what we got it was clearly overpriced, 250€ per night. When I called the owner to report a complaint regarding the smell (their rulebook mentioned a high penalty for smoking) he claimed to me that he had not smelled anything while he visited the place last time. After that he told me that there had been a family living there permanently who had smoked a lot. Then he told me that they never promissed it wouldn’t smell like tobacco! Their slogan being ’You’ll sleep better than at home’ kinda promises more. Being marketed as B&B I also expected that breakfast might be included, or if nor there might be a deal with their cafeteria. He told us the breakfast was not included and that they had excluded us from the breakfast served for other B&B customers. Nice. Fortunately we are only staying here for one night. The only good side about this place is that I’ll be super happy to be back home. Due to the low quality-price ratio and the rude, dishonest and aggogant attitude of the owner I cannot unfortunately recommed this place for anyone.

Very cute old bulding with friendly hosts! I got warm welcome and my room was cooled before i arrived, because it was a hot day! Small room did not hace airconditioning, but it was not a problem. (Bigger rooms has the airconditioning) Clean, cozy and cute. Linen sheets and dove beddings. Best! Breakfast also cute and good! Good tips from the hosts. Found a best vintage vintti near by! I warmly recommend!

We felt us very welcomed by our hosts. They gave us very good recommendations for great restaurants and activities around Hämeenlinna and Aulanko recreational area. Great value for the money. The free-of-charge retro bicycles were so much fun!

On behalf of my parents I would definitely recommend Matin ja Maijan Majatalo for a comfortable stay in Hämeenlinna. They enjoyed a weekend in Hämeenlinna on their anniversary and loved the place. We visited the place shortly also and were impressed of the quality and personal and professional service my parents and we got.

We stayed for one night in Hämeenlinna in this wonderful and cosy B&B. The information before were clear. The keys were available soon. The room is a nice and lovely ancient design renovated. Bed quality was perfect. Our guest prepared us a succulent breakfast, with muesli, sandwich, eggs, apple juice and tea. Perfect morning and welcome. Thank you.

Absolutely fantastic! Like staying in an old house visiting friends. 6 Unique rooms. Renovated with style. Breakfast sitting in the kitchen with the owners ... chatting... eating home made buns, boiled eggs, freshly brewed coffee, quality tee, sparkling wine ( glutein free options). Downtown area but still peaceful. Great design store 8Etelä opposite and the perfect coffee shop next door: Villa Marenki. If you need the best luxorious boutique pittoresque style and atmosphere, this is your choice!!!
