We have stopped here three times as we drive back from the Alps, and on each occasion dinner has been a highlight of our holiday. Rooms are very comfortable, but the stay is made by the delicious dinner. Breakfast is excellent too.
Stayed here on route whilst cycling the Via Rhona . The hotel is on the cycle route. Great room . Evening meal excellent. Amazing breakfast. Friendly staff. Excellent safe secure garage for cycles. Good Covid-19 precautions
Room: reasonable size, facing the cliff (we had room 2), quiet except for the other room doors of people arriving /departing in the middle of the night. Bathroom had shower only, but was huge! Location: perfect. Good as a stop on a long journey to the Alps (our route), or to explore the area. Right on the river with great fishing and cycle routes. If you arrive by bike they have a safe garage you can store them in. There is no reception as such - on reservation you get the access code for the door, and your room key will be on a table in the hall! We had dinner at the restaurant which was also great: really good value set menu (4 courses), plus a few 'plats'. Food was wonderful, and includes the option of frogs legs if you want (the French people on the next table chose these). Only possible negative: you might need your French - not much English spoken. We also stayed with a 2 year old. She is generally well behaved, but if yours is the more unruly variety you may feel a little awkwyin the restaurant, the ambience is quite intimate and there was no background music to hide the chatter!…
Rooms spacious, very clean, good quality a/c fan, comfortable bed. Bonus was the terrific restaurant on-site and the lovely river Rhone outside. Fast but infrequent traffic on road to front. Great stopover
The hotel is a converted farm house, very modern inside and clean and QUIET!! in spite of being on the main D1075 which streatches up to Dijon! Very friendly owners;Oliver is an outstanding cook, his wife Roxsen is looking after the hotel. The restaurant is lovely and well used by the local people as well. Food is excellent but the breakfast is early and rushed due to the 10 am closure of the kitchen. However, the view from the room is breathtaking, and watching Rhone coming down from the Rhone Alps and meandering by the hotel. Mind you, one has to have protection on, as the hungry mosquitos welcome the slow walkers! Close to the centre of the town which has an active, helpful Tourist Office. In all, Most enjoyable experience .Thank you Mr and Mrs Mollard for having a very pleasant hotel and service.…
This year we planned our summer trip from Belgium to the French Riviera by car - via the picturesque French country roads and villages, instead of taking the boring, congested and dreadfully expensive "autoroutes". This entails of course a stop about the middle of the trip... usually at the height of Lyon or Vienne. After some searching on various sites, the Michelin site came up with a suggestion for the Hotel de la Source on the "départementale" RD1075 bordering the mighty Rhône river. Reserving the room by email was a cinch, and the proprietress, Roxanne Mollard, replied and confirmed swiftly - on trust: meaning she did not even ask for a deposit. And this during the most crowded holiday month of the year. That generosity would be substantiated time and again (see "telling detail" later in this review). The real surprise, however, was on arrival. The hotel itself was colourful, its location on the banks of the Rhône unique (despite the adjacent motorroad), the interior modern and far more luxurious than what one would expect in a two star-establishment. Same goes for the room, which was spacious (as French hotel rooms go), impeccably clean and well furnished, the spotless bathroom practical and again not too small. But the sweet icing on the cake was the dinner. At an excellent price (26 euros), we were treated to a five course meal worthy of a first class restaurant: imaginative, well cooked, market fresh. Sleeping proved most comfortable (except for the bed-lighting, which could not be adjusted individually - a bane common to most hotels, even the poshest ones, as if their interior decorators never slept as a couple in a bed...) Breakfast next morning was, for French standards (which are poor on that level), quite adequate. A telling detail about that delightful hotel's hospitality. I had forgotten my jacket and made a small detour to pick it up on our return to Belgium. Since we had already made a long trip, we had some refreshments at the bar. And what do you know: the proprietress wouldn't hear of us paying for the drinks, alleging that we had already made a detour to pick up the garment! What delightful show of service! This is definitely a stopover that I can recommend wholeheartedly. And next year, we'll stop there again, and perhaps stay a bit longer - because it's not just a resting place, but a very good hotel in its own right, at an unbeatable value for money!…
This hotel is situated by RD 1075. There is a lot of lorries and cars passing but thanks to good it does not influense a good night sleep. The rooms seem to be built recently and they look very fresh, including the toilettes, both in the room and the common ones. The restaurant was closed when we were there, but the breakfast was OK.
I stayed in this cozy hotel when I visited a company in France, the room was very nice, spacious and the furniture all very new. The service was very friendly and hospitable. The indication of this hotel was the staff of the company that I visited and was an indication very happy because I loved it much the hotel. The visuals are spectacular, very beautiful region. The bed was very good, giving an excellent sleep quality, the bathroom was spacious and all very new. Breakfast simple but extremely good. On our arrival proved a sparkling wine and a red wine from the region, indicated by the owner of the hotel and we ended up having dinner there even been suggested a steak that was spectacular, point less, very juicy. The wine was a new wine, grapes from Bugay, very good wine with a bouquet extraordinary.…
We were on our way from Spain to Germany, and wanted a small and interesting stop along the way to break up our trip. We were able to book quickly on the web, and the proprietress replied by email about 30 minutes later checking on our room needs and asking if we wanted a table for dinner -- great service! The location is perfect for avoidng the awful Lyon holiday traffic in a beeline through the countryside from Vienne to Bourg-en-Bresse. The hotel has been completely renovated (and I mean completely) in February 2012 and it shows. The rooms are newly appointed and clean, the lines and colours are modern and muted. Dinner menus range from € 18 to € 40, and both portions and variety were excellent -- the salads are simply AMAZING. The wine list is just the right size with options for every taste and budget -- we had a crisp Pinot Gris for € 12 that harmonised well with dinner. Everything speaks for this hotel -- the comfortable rooms, the great food, the location on the river, the helpful and attentive owners, and the beautiful surroundings. We will defnitely be coming back to stay!…
