Reception closed at 6pm on a Friday night. Not good when you are driving from Sydney and discover the room key left outside the back door in a car park. Only a double bed. A bit short for someone over 6 feet tall. Noisy pipes in the bathroom. Road noise from the car park and street below.

The renovated family room was clean and suited our needs. The two connecting rooms are adaquate for four people, but the large games room and library provided a great venue for us to hang out in the evenings. The table tennis and pool table were a hit. The kids especially loved staying here. The original features really make this place...

Convenient location close to the main centre & railway station. The old-world-charm has more a potential than the existing- let down by hap-hazard furnishings and a torn billiard felt. Our queen-size room with ensuite was located on the third (top)floor. The building temperature rose with the stairways. The bedding was comfortable. Two heaters& electric blanket were provided but not used...

Thank you very much for your comments. Regarding the heat, our friendly staff are always happy to help locate additional fans if required. Sorry you had to deal with the recent summer heatwave! Window issues have been reported and dealt with accordingly. Glad that overall you enjoyed your stay.

Was not expecting much due to affordable price but was very pleasantly surprised with a beautiful vintage hotel. The room was amazing, large with a great bathroom and sitting area. The back entrance had a very rustic feeling going in with a small fishpond and sitting area while upstairs had a games room with billiard and ping pong as well...

Great location for town and access to walking trails etc close by. Friendly helpful staff. Old hotel and reception areas kept as such. Room was nice with a mix of old and new, it was quite small but comfortable and fine for one or two nights.

Has great character and charm. It was a pleasant surprise! Like they fact that they have kept the common room with some historical artifacts especially when it is related to the history of the place. It is very well located right beside a park and all the food places. The room is basic but adequate and clean

I have been to Katoomba several times before by car but wanted to prove to myself that a car is not needed. The plan was to travel Sunday 18th December To Katoomba from Central by train for a 4 day/3 night trip. With the main purpose being Christmas dinner at the Hydro Majestic at Medlow Bath on Sunday the 18th....

What a fantastic review! We love encouraging guests to explore the town on foot or public transport and take pride in the fact we are so close to everything needed for the car-less traveller. Staff were really helpful - i managed to twist my ankle walking and they got me a bucket full of ice water for the room. Also allowed us to leave luggage for a few hours while we were already checked out. Room was really clean and spacious and the air con worked wonders! Location is central in the town, and...

Thank you for your feedback, very glad you enjoyed your stay. The Metropole was built in the 1930s and we like the idea that our guests can step back in time when taking advantage of the communal areas of the building. Hope to see you here again soon!

It's right outside the rail station, and it is near the road that leads straight down to echo point and scenic world. So it's really convenient. However, the room was too hot in the summer. It was well prepared for the cold with its electric blankets, but there were only fans to keep you cool during summer :(

Thank you for your feedback! Summer (especially the one we have just had) can be hard to deal with without air con, but due to the old style of our 1930s hotel it has proven difficult to implement such technology! Next time you stay, perhaps request a park side room which might provide more airflow during the warmer season. Our...

Quaint hotel. Reception staff was friendly. Room was simple and clean. Good comfy bed. Limited on site car parking which cant be pre booked. Only comment - if you a large person the bathroom may be an issue. Very small (approx 1 metre wide) bathroom with toilet.
