Hosts Steve and Karen greet you through the historic front door and introduce the magnificent building and its connection to the history of Queenstown. Personally I was agog at the building! It's special. The service and welcoming by hosts and their beautiful basset hound (Hannah) just got better with time, and it started out great! Everything worked, and although there...

My parents have stayed at Penghana before and wanted us (my sister and I and our husbands and children aged 6, 8 and 10) to experience it during a West Coast visit incorporating the steam railway, Corinna, Strahan etc. Steve and Karen were wonderful hosts who are very helpful and keen to share the history of this gorgeous property with...

Thank you so much for your review and choosing the Western Wilderness for your family holiday. It was an absolute pleasure observing your whole family enjoying your special time together. Do hope you get to see the last couple of episodes of Downton Abbey season 6...... it was a pity sleep time needed to become a priority and you just...

Steve and Karen are fantastic hosts! We had everything we needed. Even if you are in a hurry, you have to spend sometime to walk inside and outside the house. Otherwise you will overlook the beautiful things inside and outside.

Thank you so much for your review and visiting the Western Wilderness. It was a pity you didn't have time to stay just relax! Yes at this time of year there is much to see in the garden, in particular the wonderful colour of flowers we are fortunate to have around us. Steve has worked hard this past 12 months...

We stayed at Penghala as part of a trip to Tasmania in December (2016). Steve and Karen were great hosts and quite happy to spend time explaining the history of the building and the area as well as giving us tips on what to see. There are, in fact, two guest lounges to use as well as a guest kitchen...

Thanks for your detailed comments about features of the house for guests and also thank you for your compliments about your stay at Penghana and the Western Wilderness area. Steve and Karen are excellent hosts running a beautiful B&B in a lovely position in this interesting town. They gave us a huge amount of time and information, and it was fun to see the house featured in photos in museums at other places in Tasmania. The room and breakfast were great as well.

Pros: The house was amazing. Very luxurious old world charm. I wish we had booked for a longer stay but we had so many things to see and do in Tasmania in a short time period. Cons: Was a little hard to find the driveway at night.

Thank you for staying at Penghana and your endorsement of our facility. Normally we have an reflective sign at the driveway entrance but with the severe winds we've been experiencing, it had blown down and was 'in for repair' when you were visiting. All is now fixed and we are installing a solar spotlight as well to make the entrance...

We only stayed one night but Karen and Steve made us very welcome. We enjoyed the upstairs lounge room and had a great night in with scrabble and chess. Amazing breakfast the next morning and their future plans sound amazing. The beds are super comfy and they've done so much in only 12 months. Don't think of staying anywhere else!

Penghana B & B was a wonderful place to stay. A fascinating Historical building, with an interesting history based around the mining in the Queenstown area. The rooms were very comfortable, decorated in the style of the 1800's heritage building. Facilities in the rooms, and in the lounges, dining area etc were all in keeping with the history of the...
