Booked this on a whim. The hotel itself was ok. Staff was friendly and helpful. If you are expecting luxury, this is not your place, but for ~$30USD/night it served it's purpose well. This is a mile or so outside of the bustle of town, so it's very quiet. It was about 20min from our actual destination, cascadas el limon....

Rude staff, insects in every place, overpriced, no air conditioning, no pool, dirty and "decadent" bathroom,...I use to travel a lot and without any useless confort, but paying 50$ for a dirty room, without any amenities, full of mosquitos and cockroaches, more then in any other hotel in Las terrenas (dirty?) it looks like next time I will do 3...

I'm going to put the positives of this review right up front. It's located on a beautiful beach, one of the prettiest I've ever seen. When the pool is cleaned, it's very nice. Now I'm going to discuss the problems, starting with the biggest one. I could have died. I stayed in a room without air conditioning for four weeks....

Stuck on the DR north shore after flights were canceled, grabbed a rental car and headed to Las Terrenas, I'd heard it was a cool spot. Nice drive from the Cabarete area that we had been spending time in. Arrived in a very busy, noisy beach town. Drove to the water and turned right, went a few blocks and found...

The only thing I didn't like was having to leave after only five days. Laidback owners Aida from Santo Domingo & husband Philippe from Bordeaux did everything possible to make our stay pleasant. Wonderfully large rooms in this 16 unit property with big baths, bar/restuarants and a minimarket on premises. On Playa del Palapa one of the nicer stretches of...

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week and had a wonderful time. This is a great hotel for young people- it was easy to meet other young people and las terrenas has a lively night life. The hotel is literally across the street from one of the nicer areas of beach and a 15 minute walk to anywhere...

Very unpleasant expericence.. We traveled to Las Terrenas 2 weeks ago. What a lovely town, with so much to offer. Unfortunately, we tried getting a room at Hotel Palapa, wich is located in across the road from the main beach. First, we walked in, and there was no one at the front desk. We went to the restaurant up front,...

Awesome 2 weeks and 3 more to go. A quiet place at the eastern end of the main waterfront strip and just steps to the beach. The recent renovations and upgrades are quite pretty. Plenty of great restaurants around including Kahuna which is on the property and has the BEST burgers in town! Or there is a communal kitchen upstairs...

As James said below " hard not to have a good time". We stayed a couple of nights last month, and I have to say, what a difference a year and a new owner make. Lots of nice new renovations. Very clean and comfortable, and certainly affordable. This place is right on the beach on a really calm bay (perfect for...
