2020 Travellers' Choice Best of the Best
Exquisite small hotel bordering National Park of Guadarrama, an hour from Madrid. Hike in the sierra, spend the day in Segovia... What bliss Sotosalbos is a tiny village: two restaurants, one bar, no shops, and a two-kilometre diret road that delivers you to heaven. Cristina & Alejandro spent four years building their dream place; now they live here with daughter Cristina, a couple of horses, a donkey and two happy dogs. The style is local (wood, stone, plaster, slate), the decoration is exquisite, and the grounds are gloriously wild. The house is built on two floors: bedrooms up, public spaces below, and an internal patio bursting with greenery. There are big open fires stacked with logs, fat sofas, bright kelims, friends' paintings, lovely lighting, a library lined with books, a drinks cupboard with free drinks. Beams from monasteries and old wood doors from Madrid houses give a wonderfully warm feel, and the wide terrace has glass panels to keep winter at bay. But you can still gaze out on the foothills of the sierra, and the walking is marvellous. Bedrooms are beautiful, two with terraces, and bathrooms are stunning (anti-misting mirrors, tiles from Morocco). Breakfast, brought to the long friendly table, is worth rising for.

Cristina and Alejandro have created the most beautiful and restful place. Every internal scene is a work of art and is complemented by the views of the mountains, the nearby village and the estate. The welcome is warm and sincere, the comfort luxurious, the care perfection. A wonderful place to recharge your batteries but, equally, an excellent base for exploring Segovia and the surrounding area. We can't wait to retur.

As a group of 10 friends we stayed here for a week. The welcome is marvellous. Cristina and Alejandro have built this superb house near Segovia on the outskirts of a pretty village which has a famous and beautiful early Romanesque church, and good restaurants. Alejandro is, rightly, proud to give guests a guided tour of their land, vegetation, and animals. The friendly dogs add charm! The rooms (some with terraces) are supremely comfortable with huge beds, well-designed bathrooms and every luxury. Breakfasts are excellent. The atmosphere is so tranquil, with hammocks slung under trees, comfortable chairs everywhere, and masses of space inside the house for all the guests. Nothing is too much trouble for the lovely owners. We enjoyed good countryside walks and most helpful

We stayed in the Fuente Techada this weekend from Friday the 1st May till the 4th May. We decided to have a break from the city life in Madrid and take advantage of the countryside and open air! As soon as we arrived, we were impressed by the beautiful house and wonderful surroundings! We were treated fantastically by Crisitna and Alejandro, who were both very welcoming and happy to show us the grounds and provide information on the best restaurants and villages nearby. I loved to see all the animals and meet the friendliest dogs Nina and Olinda. Our room was absolutely stunning with the best views of the countryside and the best facilities that a person can ask for during a weekend visit! I would definitely return and would highly recommend it to anyone! Thanks again for the
