Staff are super friendly and genuine here. Always ready to help you out with something to do and / or how to do it. The bike hire is very fair and worth having a go as the beach and cycle paths are just over the road :) Rooms are always well kept at YHA hostels and here is no exception....

Small room with a cracked wash basin directly over the dining area and small outside BBQ area where a ? ball was being struck on a wall and people were still talking and laughing loudly at 2 am. I had to lean out the window and shout several times before getting a reduction in the noise. Who is supposed to...

Nelson YHA was our base for two tramps in the north. The front of house was welcoming, always helpful and willing to go beyond the little inquiries of one night visitors. We sampled both double ensuite rooms and std doubles over an 8 nights. Each room was clean and well prepared. Wi Fi works well closer to reception. Good range...

The people working here were amongst the most helpful we met around NZ and that is saying something as pretty much everyone is very helpful. They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. The room itself was very good and so was the overall cleanliness of the property.

Free wifi (reaches to the rooms, but is a little slow away from the common area); free bread each day; clean bathrooms; great kitchen and lounge facilities; great location (all tour companies do pick ups right outside, 5min walk from bus station and a lot of good eateries). Comfy bed, my only complaint was a form pillow! Would stay again

I enjoyed my stay here, the facilities are great and I was comfortable the rooms are nice and big for 6 beds which is a nice change. The staff gave no direction so it took me ages to find where everything was. More info would of been nice.

Good location, nice staff, some beds were comfortable, but run down place. Everything was broken, from laundry machines to sauna. Lots of plumbing problems, and rooms were noisy. The staff made up for a lot of it with helpful information and effort making reservations for us.

The hostel does feel rather dated in areas like the common area and kitchen. Apart from that the dorms are good and it is a hostel that is suited to a good nights sleep. Quiet and great for a rest if you gave been travelling around NZ. The location is bang in the middle of Nelson and close to most...

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Spacious kitchen and common area. Plenty of toilets and showers. Bed was comfortable. Clean. I liked the lockers so I could secure my valuables while I trekked the Able Tasman Coastal Track. We stayed in this YHA before and after that trek. There was a fabulous Farmer's Market on Saturdays right next to this...
