It was a dreary, rainy summer's day when we pulled in to the Cathedral Inn. The hosts, Neville and Sally, were such bright and welcoming faces. They upgraded us to a larger room and we immediately enjoyed our surroundings. The lovely accommodation was enhanced by a great night's sleep in a king bed. Then, in the morning, we were served... Beautiful restored home with rich history perched on top of the hill above Nelson and next to the town church. Easy walk next to the church and down the stairs to the center of town Hosts are unbelievable and the breakfasts are 4-5 choice home cooked full meals. Incredible all around. Parking, nice beds and showers, small things like cookies,... More

The Cathedral Inn is probably the best B & B we have ever stayed. The location is perfect..just 100-200 metres from numerous eateries and centre of the city. It was quiet, spotless and the owners so friendly and helpful. We will have no hesitation in recommending it to friends--in fact it is a must if in Nelson. ---just leaving was... More

I will begin this review with a caveat that may have reflected on our less than perfect score. When we arrived Neville was 3 days post op from a hip-replacement. I think this dear and charming couple would have been wise to close their doors to allow some time for Neville to recoup and Sally to rest. They were as... More

This must be one of the best bed and breakfasts we've ever stayed at. First of all, both the beds and the breakfasts are fantastic! The location couldn't be better, set in a beautiful old house, it is just a very short (3 min) stroll from the cathedral and 5 minutes from the city centre and all the nice restaurants.... More

Wonderful, thoughtful hosts combined with a great location, beautiful ensuite rooms, and amazing cooked-to-order breakfasts. Bonus that it's been sensitively remodelled and that it was once the home of one of the most famous people in Nelson (Bishop Suter). Will definitely stay here again the next time we're in Nelson.

This grand old building which has been beautifully renovated to provide modern comfort whilst maintaining its historical charm was a delight to stay in. Clean, quiet and set in the old leafy area of Nelson ,next door to the Cathedral, and a stroll to town, great location. The breakfast part of the "B" needs a special mention too. More like... More

Our 1st night in New Zealand and one of the best. Sally, Neville and Barry are the perfect hosts. Their attention to every detail of our stay was so appreciated from the chocolates in our room, their suggestions for nearby sites and restaurants to their careful planning of our trip to Te Kaka. Their breakfasts are outstanding especially the homemade... More

We stayed at this lovely B&B for 4 nights and it was wonderful! The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean. Breakfast was very, very good. Every morning they made the most wonderful cooked breakfast! The location was perfect, close to the city center (about 5 minutes walk). The owners are very sweet... More

The owner/operators are the BEST!!!! Our room was spacious and lovely. The breakfast, which is included was delicious. You have options like pancakes with fruit, omelette with avocado and salmon...and more. that is to put it briefly. The house is 160 years old, and with interesting history. This house will be around another 500 years. Well made. More of a... More
