My wife and I spent 2 nights and loved it. Had dinner one night in the pub and loved the grounds, with the flowers and shrubs. Easy location to make it up to the beaches like Kaiteriteri, the wineries and some great dining in Nelson. Would strongly recommend the Honest Lawyer to everyone. Everyone there was so nice!

Great location on an inlet. Lovely garden area to eat out, lots of space. Room - we had a double bed cottage - was superb with a table and chair area outside to sit. Would really recommend this place for a great break. Close to cycle tracks and has a lovely walk around the inlet. The restaurant is great and...

My husband and I stayed here during our Xmas trip to NZ. Loved it! We selected one of the cottage rooms and I'm glad we did. It was spacious, had great amenities (including a blow dryer and 'frig), and it had a nice little outdoor seating area. There's a small orchard next door that you can wonder through (with wine...

Largish group, staff helpful and considerate, food very mediocre, out of seven Christmas functions attended this was second to last in the food stakes and also the most expensive $40.00 each. Very overpriced for a meal of little merit; one lady complained her couscous wasn't cooked properly! Couscous for Christmas dinner? Dark room not very Christmacy, little effort made to...

I enjoyed two nights at The Honest Lawyer during the height of Christmas functions and had a lovely experience. The room was quiet, quaint and comfortable. My only critic would be the lack of mini bar but as there is a full pub/restaurant downstairs, this was only a minor inconvenience. There are a number of good walking/running tracks in the...

We called into this pub around lunchtime on our last day of a self-guided cycling tour. The hotel is located on the Great Taste Trail (a cycling/hiking trail around the Nelson/Tasman region). It is in the style of an old English pub but with a terrific outlook over Nelson bay. If the weather was inclement, it would be a great...

A little concerned when first arriving to find a very small Reception, looking very disorganized and cramped. We did have to ask the lady for directions to our room. But the room was adequate for our 1 night stay and had the lovely old English charm about it and a lovely view overlooking the beer garden and water. The bed...

Firstly, had trouble finding reception (directed around the side - no direction signs.) Reception is abysmal!!! A mouse hole with the door open to a kitchen? When the receptionist finally came she was unsure of bookkeeping and we wrote our details on a scrap paper. 3/10 for charisma to boot think she had a grumpy previous encounter. No lift for...

Stayed the night as the Monaco Marathon started in their backyard early the following morning. Dinner: after waiting 40 mins (the first half of the AB test) we enquired where our meals were? Once they found the original order they informed me our selection had sold out but they hadn't bothered to update us. We were eventually fed a nice...
