We were at Barrow House for 2 nights last week end and everything was fabulous! The house is beautiful and there is a very stylish charm about it; traditional but somehow modern, bright (even though the weather was shocking when we arrived!) and an overall very relaxed atmosphere and tastefully decorated. The location by the water is ideal and you can avail of kayaks or paddles if you wish. Barrow Beach is not too far away and accessible through the golf club; beautiful spot for a walk or a swim and no mobile home in sight to ruin the views.

We stayed in the Heron Room which was bright, spacious, peaceful and was just perfect. The bathroom was also very nice but shame it was cheapened by average quality toiletries which did not go well with the overall elegance of the place.

We had breakfast both mornings and it was just perfect even with the new restrictions in place, their set up worked really well and we enjoyed everything. They do not do evening meals unfortunately and the nearest place for food is within 10min drive.

Our host Donagh and her team were very friendly and made us feel at home. Everybody just seems so relaxed there!

There is no tv in the rooms so if reading or chatting in the sitting rooms are not your things, I suggest you bring a tablet or a laptop as there is not much to do around on evenings at the moment with the pubs being closed.

I definitely recommend Barrow House and I would love to go back one day!

From finding this incredible place, to the moment we (very reluctantly) checked out, everything was just a joy. The house is stunning and has been lovingly put together by Daragh. It is utter luxury and yet totally comfortable, no standing on ceremony here. We stayed in Egret, and enjoyed the large bath and stunning sea views, not to mention the treat of the Juliet balcony. Daragh and her staff, augmented by a team of goldfish and dogs, are the perfect hosts - and the location could not be more stunning. Breakfast is wonderful and Bertie the local taxi will whisk you off to nearby restaurants if you so wish. We will definitely return! Thank you!

Barrow House is a beautiful venue for both rest and relaxation. The combination of the stunning exterior views with the impeccable interior designed rooms provides for tranquillity as soon as you arrive. Your day starts with the "best ever" breakfast which lasts you long beyond lunchtime and you are within easy reach of the beautiful beaches and landscapes of North Kerry and beyond. The seafood in nearby restaurants and eateries is so fresh and delicious you won't want anything else! The attention to detail in relation to Covid guidelines was meticulous and staff were at all time helpful and attentive.
A definite "return to" destination!

Stayed in Barrow House over the new year with friends. Beautiful Georgian house overlooking Barrow Bay, near Tralee golf Club. The house has been restored and decorated to incredibly high standards by its owner Daragh. She works/worked in the creative industry in London and it shows. Each room is decorated differently with interesting and often bold use of colours. Beautifully furnished. In our room- The Heron room- we’d a fab four poster bed. Bed was really comfortable too. Feather and down duvets, pillows, cushions...Could have stayed in bed for the few days just looking at and listening to the sea, but there was too much to do! Beautiful long walks on beaches, lovely local places to eat, chilling by the fire, watching movies in the cinema room (when recovering from NYE!). Breakfast was incredible. The vegetarian breakfast with haloumi and avocado was delish, as was the full Irish. Really did not want to leave this place and hope to come back soon. Well done to Daragh who was a welcoming, tireless host who ensured our every desire was met and ensured we’d a fabulous and seamless few days. Would highly recommend! (In case you couldn’t tell!)

I live in Tralee & when my wife received a birthday gift of a 2 night stay for us in Barrow House, I was like a kid on Christmas morning. It is a stunning property, made the all-more appealing & desirable after meeting the owner & host, Daragh, who is a walking gem. She is so welcoming & such a knowledgeable & fitting owner for such a historical property. The friendliness combined with the relaxing atmosphere & opulence of the property was the tonic that any soul would desire. We socialized our first evening with our engaging host and had the most sound & superb sleep on our first night. First class comfort. I literally gorged on her superb Irish breakfast the following morning to the point that I had to return to bed for a well deserved digestion period before hitting Tralee Golf Links with the required calories to provide me with the energy required to brave that course on an unusually windy day for early June…but this is the Wild Atlantic Way. A second evening commenced with an in-bedroom massage provided by a local masseuse organised by Daragh…absolutely superb. Following an external meal, we retuned to spending a fabulously relaxing evening in the Lounge, by this stage I am Uber-relaxed. Another superb sleep followed by another delicious breakfast, I had literally tears in my eyes leaving Barrow House. The owner, the atmosphere, the food,!the ambiance, the amenities, the location…..if you want a relaxation spot in the Kingdom of Kerry, you will not go wrong with Barrow House. Superb! Thank you, Daragh. 👍😘

You feel at home in a luxury mansion by the ocean. Tranquility, it’s a home away from home. The hostess is kind, relaxed, knowledgeable of the area, the staff is super friendly and kind, we loved the breakfast, freshly made every day and our communal breakfast with the other guests, so many great people to meet. The study and the salon are available for your use. Each room
Has its own flair, beautifully decorated. The cleanliness is perfect! The sea view is the highlight of your wake up. The peninsula to walk around and the Barrow beach as the Tralee golf club are absolutely stunning! A perfect place to slow down, enjoy life and recharge batteries. Small tip, we would recommend for those light sleepers to take a pair of earplugs as it’s an old house. Overall a magical experience that we wish to reiterate in the future!

Early Georgian house that has been beautifully restored and adapted for guests. Wonderful location overlooking a quiet bay, in the middle of a conservation area and just a short walk to a beautiful clean beach and one of Ireland's best golf courses. There are good restaurants a short drive away and a home cinema to amuse on a wet afternoon. Breakfasts are a lavish treat, bedrooms are comfortable and then there is your hostess, Darragh, whose wit and character ensures you have an enjoyable and memorable stay.

My family have just returned from celebrating my mothers 70th birthday at Barrow House. Ranging in age from 11 months to 71 years, everyone of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Daragh, the owner was so welcoming and really helped us to feel at home. Herself and her team were exceptional. They did everything they possibly could to make our trip special and memorable, from delicious home cooked meals to interesting story telling about the history of the house. They took every care when preparing meals for my father, who is coeliac. The level of comfort Barrow House offers is top notch. Every room is beautifully decorated and furnished and the beds are super comfy. The mountain and sea views from the house, the tranquil setting and everything I have mentioned above, make Barrow House a 5* location in my opinion.

Fabulous stay, everything is top rated, owner is super friendly and extremely helpful, the moment you arrive you feel at home. Property is extremely nice and very well taken care, you can just seat next to water for hours or go for a walk. Highly recommended place. And of course if you are a dog lover , there is the huge bear size absolutely mild and gentle dog. An awesome place.

Barrow house is situated in a little quiet bay 2 minutes from the golf club , and about 20 minutes from Tralee , it’s also 5 minutes from Ardfert handy got to when visiting restaurants and bars, it has its own little beach just outside the door .
The house is a refurbished Georgian house decorated to a high standard with a homely feel to it , the rooms are nice , but I must say if booking ask for the view of the bay rather than the back of the house, the owner and staff are lovely and helpful and the rooms are lovely some, smaller than others but still very nice , there are no televisions , so bring a book you’ll not need them as there so much to do in the area , you can hire a bike there too , I’ve been coming to this area for 25 years and remember this house back then, I must say the owners have done a spectacular job on it and I did enjoy our three day stay , breakfast is lovely again it’s served around one table so if your not a talker in the morning skip breakfast , I found my Wi-Fi didn’t work in the breakfast area so if you do work in the morning at breakfast it’s worth thinking about, but still a lovely breakfast.
The two little dogs made me miss my dog at home but they are so friendly and I enjoyed the cuddles, there is a small bar were you help yourself and leave the money, and you can enjoy a bottle of wine outside at night as there are tables to do so while enjoying the view or sea air.
I’d definitely would recommend this clean , comfortable well managed beautiful home to anybody travelling in the Kerry area as a base to do so.

8.30 is when we are running on all engines... but if a "golfers" picnic breakfast is needed before that to take out we prepare sandwiches and fruits for you and leave it ready for collection on your way out for those early departures or Tee times.
