Stayed in room 13 which doesn't have a sea view but did get the afternoon sun which was fine for us as the room was nice and warm when we arrived on a very windy and cold day. In summer it may be an issue? Reception staff were brilliant and nothing was too much trouble! Gave excellent advice as to...

Friendly, welcoming, spacious & helpful - that describes the people & place. They recommended local sights & restaurants, and helped us with reservations & directions. The room was large and well furnished. And the location right on the water front made it convenient to go for walks in this beautiful town.

A hotel by the esplanade of Kaikoura is Anchor Inn's winning starting point. But the owners have built on that advantage by providing comfortable and clean room. Do eat at the Green dolphin which serves superb steak- in fact they have a chef who is a specialist and patrons book to avoid disappointment. Another fascinating experience is the visit of...

Nothing was too much trouble for Pauline and Keith during our stay. The luxury studio room was immaculately presented and was just about 50 yards from the Pacific Ocean. They also make a point of having rooms ready for check in by 1 pm which is great when you have driven some distance. Pauline was very willing to spend time...

A fine place to stay. Good clean comfortable and functional motel accommodation, a little way out of town towards the peninsula. Hislops, on the other side of town (a drive or brisk walk away) is recommended for dinner.

This well run hotel is just across the road from the sea. At night if you leave the window open you can hear the surf. It is well situated to be able to reach restaurants and attractions within minutes. Most are close enough you can walk. Pauline, the owner is very helpful and assisted us in our enjoyment of the...

Just far enough away from the town centre but within walking distance and directly opposite the beach. We were greeted by Pauline a really nice lady originally from Hull pronounced u-ll. Wish we could have stayed longer than one night in this delightful town, Kaikoura, our favourite place on our tour of both islands. It takes about 20 minutes to walk from the motel in to the town but it is a lovely walk along the waterfront. There are also shuttle buses which operate from the train station to the various...

Managed to get the last unit in this place, Kaikoura fully booked out, what a coup. Room was fabulous, not beachfront, lovely afternoon sun at the rear of the unit, how nice sitting outside in the warm weather with a chilled glass of wine or beer. Very well appointed with cooking facilties and a good array of cutlery, utensils, crockery....
