I stayed here for 3 nights in a 4 bed dorm. The staff were friendly and helpful, the hostel is very clean and comfortable too. The location is perfect as you are along the beach in the centre of town and opposite the iSite. There were a couple of things I thought could be improved. First that in my room...

I stayed at Fishtank for a few days. You have free WIFI. Postive point for probably the most people, I hated it because of that the most of the guests where happy with there mobile phones and computers. Its a nice place for a few days, right in the middle of Kaikoura and located next to the beach. Unfortunately I...

It looks a bit weird from outside but is in the main road, close to everything. Room huge with big window, heater and table bed. Massive leaving room with tv and free wifi. Nice view from the second level. Clean and quiet.

Very interesting atmosphere at this hostel. While the exterior may look a bit dodgy, don't let that turn you off staying here. My brother and I were checking in close to closing time and Craig at reception was still very friendly and hospitable. He was also able to give us great suggestions to do in Kaikoura, as our whale watching...

I can't say anything bad about this hostel - friendly owners, clean rooms, big common area with balcony looking at the ocean, right across from the bus stop and I-Site, full kitchen and free unlimited wifi. I came here during shoulder season and had a room to myself the second night which was a great break from sharing rooms the...

Located in central Kaikoura within walking distance of all the local cafes and tourist attractions. The service was absolutely amazing, with the owner helping me out in a very tight spot during a big storm that occurred a week or so ago. Very friendly people, the rooms were clean and comfortable and the facilities were warm, hygienic and beautifully decorated....

I have been here just for two nights but I can say it's very good. I was in the 6 bedroom, not so big but comfortable. The lounge room allow you to socialize. The bathroom was clean up every morning and there were 3 showers. The staff also is pretty cool!

Nice backpacker in the centre of town, groovy yet cosy decoration. No party central, but good ambience. Beds are quite comfortable despite being bunk beds. The location is excellent and very central. Would stay there again.

Located on the main strip of Kaikoura, The Fish Tank is very easy to find. (Opposite the i-site) However, if you have a car there's no official parking. There is paid parking across the road (8am-6pm) or a grassy bank which we believed to belong to a neighbouring church. We asked at reception and were told to park across the...

“If you don't mind to spend more but rather have more quietness, the private en-suite on first floor might be better.”

“I did the deep sea fishing trip. Was great pulling up the baskets and then cooking one for dinner that night. Doesn't get any more fresh 😊”

“We stayed in a 3-bed dorm on the ground floor for $60 per night in early January. Linens were clean and comfortable. Because the room was beside two bathrooms so it was quite humid and noisy, especially at night. The double room beside it looks like a much better choice (with its won bathroom)”

“For 5$ extra get double room. More space more privacy”

“I think the 3-bed dorm gives a possibility of a single bed, which I myself prefer. Otherwise the rooms do not really have views, but the lounge does, a nice one.”
