We spent two nights here in March. The room was lovely with nice views of the ocean. Barb is really nice and it was a pleasure to stay here. There are only two rooms so it is a quiet place to stay. Pluses included having a fridge and kettle in the room and off road parking. Good place to explore...

We stayed here for one night and the view and location was wonderful. Great view over the ocean and mountains. Really really nice. BUT, the room itself was not good. At a first impression it looked good but the cups, cuttlery and waterboiler was really dirty. A lot of hair on in the bathtube, shower and floor in the bathroom....

Love, love, LOVED Ranui Cottage. Barbara is a Gem and made our stay a holiday to remember. We traveled to Kaikoura a couple of days before Christmas Day 2015 with our two children (16yrs and 22yrs) My husband and I shared a unit and our children shared the detached cottage. Both had showers and toilets and our unit had a...

Our host, Barbara, opens her long-held family home to visitors, which offers absolute ocean views from its deck and even from two of the bedrooms! Our room had a queen bed, and a private en suite with separate bath and shower, plus handbasin and toilet. Barb changed our towels on the second day. Hot water was quick and plentiful. Apart...

Barb is a great host, and the room is clean and comfortable. But the best thing about Ranui Cottage is the amazing view and location. Right near the fantastic Pier Hotel (fresh obster and chips for $35.00!!) and another well known restaurant I can't remember the name of. Also close to the seal colony. But did I mention that view?...

We found Ranui Cottage as we wandered off the main road just down from the Pier Hotel. We were taken by the view and the friendliness of the Owner. The two rooms we took were spotlessly clean and gave us a wonderful view across the bay to the Kaikouras. We reluctantly recommend Ranui as we'd like to keep it secret..........however...

We were advised to drive through Kaikoura to find the best hotels on the ocean. We drove to the end to the Pier Hotel and then down a dirt track and stumbled on Ranui Cottage. No one was home but we phoned the mobile number and the friendly owner told us how to get into the room and where to...
