We wanted a last minute 2 day break in the south of WA, Australia and stumbled across the lovely Gilgara Retreat. What a lucky find! We stayed in the main house and did not see the other accommodation, so cannot comment on that. Firstly, we were impressed with the communication from Gilgara before we even arrived, mentioning the change to...

We had a wonderful week at Gilgara. A lovely unit in the beautiful grounds, deep bath, delicious breakfast, kind and helpful proprietor, not to mention the evenings by the fire at the homestead. Would highly recommend Gilgara as a comfortable and convenient place to stay near Margaret River.

Had a really nice weekend there. Garden suites are lovely. Clean, tidy and very modern. Beautiful views and Angus the owner was very friendly and accomodating. A little bit out of town but very easy to get a taxi both ways. Will probably come back. Overall a perfect place for a relaxing weekend.

Great host. Great accommodation. Great fireplace. I recently stayed at Gilgara homestead and loved it. The host, Angus, went out of his way to welcome me. From the fireplace in the lounge room to the air-con in the bedroom, the house was warm and toasty all day and all night. I was pleasantly surprised to find a comfy king-sized bed...

Thanks for your support. I really appreciate it. We renovated the entire Gilgara Homestead last year: warm, comfortable and inviting was our goal, so thank you again. Glad you liked the cookies. Cheers Angus

We had friends from the UK on a first visit to Australia staying with us. We booked Gilgara as it appeared to be a warm cosy place to stay. The outside appearance gives that impression but the inside is cold, minimalistic and unwelcoming. We opted for the main house, the rooms were very basic, no wardrobe just a hanging space...

My husband and I had a lovely few nights at Gilgara. Angus was a perfect host - providing relevant information on the area as needed, we enjoyed his tips regarding seeing a great sunset, stingrays and lunch options. The house was cool but when I asked for a blanket to sit on the chair in the evening Angus provided two...

Thanks for your kind words. From this week the fireplace will be lit so the house will be snug and toasty, autumn has arrived. Cheers

The villas/self contained were cold and wholly uninviting. Air-conditioning did remedy the chilly room but not the floor under foot - I didn't bring my Ugg boots... Concrete walls, stone floors and floor to ceiling glass which means.... no proper window coverings. That's fine until the neighbour's light shines into your bedroom until midnight. Guests are provided with eye shades,...

Dear Monique W, thanks for your review. I want to point out one detail, the Gilgara Garden Suite Villas all come with a fully equipped kitchenette with a fridge, hot plate, microwave, kettle, toaster, cooking utensils, crockery, glasses, and cutlery. We also provide complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate and sugar in the garden suite villas. Essentially, the Garden Suite Villas...

This is defiantly my number one in places to stay in WA, I cannot recommend Gilgara enough. The elegant decor is fresh and fabulous, the house wouldn't look out of place in a top interiors magazine. The quite setting and extremely comfortable beds mean you get a wonderful nights sleep. I relax the minute we arrive ! Angus is a...

Angus welcomed us upon our arrival. Extremely generous with his knowledge and time we instantly felt at 'home'. The property grounds are peaceful and well kept. We choose to stay in one of the garden suites. The room was very spacious and well furnished. The spa bath was a great addition and waking up to the birds each morning was...

My partner and I have just returned from a 5 night stay at Gilgara Retreat. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Margaret River and our choice of accomodation added to that massively. We stayed in the house rather than the studios and were lucky enough to arrive at a fairly quiet period between busy weekends, so had the luxury of...
