The staff was helpfull and most important understanding sometimes. Really loved the hostel, the atmosphere and the location. Also stay just in lauceston for a while, there are more beautifull places to go than only the gorge.

Thanks you so much for the glowing review for both the Arthouse Hostel and Launceston. Yes, there are certainly more things to do here than people realise. Just a walk to the Cataract Gorge, a swim, and a walk up to the Duck Reach Power Station (museum) is worthy of a day!

I stayed here with a group of 5 other university students and one lecturer. The staff (Pete) were helpful when I made the group booking, and through out our stay. We were put on the 3rd floor and had a great spacial room to ourselves. Rooms were basic but spacious, clean and functional. Most of the beds were great, no...

Thanks so much for the comprehensive review and great rating. I will check the beds on 2nd floor (probably all of them while I'm at it) and tighten them up to stop the squeaking. We will also check the mattresses and replace as necessary. Thanks for staying with us, and you are more than welcome next trip.

Nice hostel, friendly and helpful staff. Only stayed for 1 night but he made us feel very welcome and helped us with directions and washing clothes. Good facilities and free wifi. Rooms were good with heaters, mirrors etc. Perhaps a little quiet in the common area but that is to be expected at this time of the year.

Thanks for the great review. The hot showers are a big hit for guests especially off the Overland Track. We have gas on-demand hot water that never runs out! One note- we are an adult hostel, so any families that are considering staying here please take note.

I've stayed here on 2 different occasions & it was different to other backpackers I've stayed in,but unfortunately not for good reasons!Charging a"linen fee"for starters seems outright wrong & it was a badly maintained place & the man who was the manager @ these times had a very bad approach!@ least most of the guests seemed nice(but for 2 that...

It's a grand old creaky building with friendly helpful staff! The dorm rooms had plenty of space and we were all surprised how well the heater worked in there at night, it was the middle of Winter and we were all toastywarm!! The bathrooms seemed recently renovated and there is a spacious stainless steel kitchen with plenty of room and...

Nice hostel. Cosy, warm enough unless if you are from a tropical climate. A lot cleaner and neater than many other hostels I have been to. Good value for money as well. There was a very friendly receptionist. Rustic character that may be more appealing to you. Highly recommend.

One of best hostels I've stayed in. Warm, friendly, clean, quiet an spacious. Very close to city centre and Myers (10 min walk). If you stay on a Saturday, they have a market in the morning. Just over the bridge from hostel (5 min walk) but ask at reception and they will direct you anywhere. Coles and Kmart just 10...

I spent a week in this hostel, good price. It is good place to meet other backpackers. One thing I like about the female dorm room I stayed was no bunk bed, you can have single bed and moving as much as you like, not to worry disturb others. In term of staff service, it is average. Kitchen is a...

I had high hopes for this hostel but was pretty disappointed. The whole joint smelled like feet and went from pleasantly warm to frigid in a matter of minutes every evening. The walls were thinner than paper and (while I wouldn't rank this as a "party hostel") it seemed like noises from all ends of the outdated house were echoing...
