I can't speak for the experiences that other people had here, but my stay was surprisingly uneventful, which is fine with me when it comes to a hostel. I was nervous seeing as how a lot of reviews talked about dirty rooms and cockroaches. I room I stayed in was clean and had a pretty large ensuite bathroom (Room 9?;... More

This hostel is very nice. It's clean and welcoming. We only stayed a night but seemed a nice place for long term. The rooms are not massive but plenty of room And we even had a room with an en suite so a bonus. The hostel is also very close to the centre. Would recommend!

If you're a backpacker and wanna have a real Australia experience, go Keiraleigh backpackers hostel in Wollongong. Most nights there's a open fire. There's a lovely garden with Balinese beds to hang around. Beaches are in ten minutes walk from the hostel. Go for a walk to the lighthouse, harbour, city center, do you're groceries, everything is within walking distance.... More

The sign on the door says 'Cash Only', the fridge has plenty of room, and the beds are cheap. If you're sick of overpaying for a space to simply exist between adventures, this is the accomodation for you. It's in the centre of town, near the beach, and there are a few lazy curly coated retrievers out the back. The... More

Already the outside front of the house looks poor and needs maintenance asap. The smell in the house is disgusting, especially in the kitchen where cockroaches and flies are going to be your best friend while your staying. I'm not speaking of just one cockroach and a handful of flies.. The kitchen is overrun of flies and cockroaches :/ It... More

I have previously stayed in an en-suite room a few years ago, and kept to myself. This year I was in a share room. None of the powerpoints in the bedroom worked, and there were one of three plugpoints in the bathrooms if I wanted to charge my phone or laptop. The kitchen is often full of cockroaches or flies.... The only redeeming quality of this backpackers was that the rooms were warm (in winter) and clean. The staff was neither helpful nor a hinderance but the kitchen... It was a mess, and there were cockroaches and flies everywhere. Went to get a drink in the night and there must have been 30 of them on counter

An attentive, courteous and charming Australian family own and run it, and raised 5 children here. Which makes it home to them, and indeed it feels like a home me. I love being here. It is absolutely eclectic, in a good way, and very safe. is located such that it's a short walk to any type of store you're looking... More

Older style place with the added charm of feeling like you are in bali with its balinese style backyard/outdoor area. It has a very relaxed and chilled vibe about it. I found everyone including staff to be very friendly and helpful, infact i stayed longer than i originally planned. Its great for people travelling either alone or in groups, especially... More

This place could be so nice if it only was cleaned and given a reno! We've been in Australia 11 months and we have never seen so many roaches as in the Keiraleagh kitchen. There was even a bird that flew in a couple of times which then was followed by the owners dog who chased the bird around narrowly... More
