My elderly mother and I stayed for two nights. The hotel is easy to get around and the lift was a big bonus. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food great. I loved the information on the history of the building and found some furniture to drool over.

A nice location and building had a lot of historic charm. Not enough staff on so service was a little average aswell as restaurant very disappointing, food was not fine dining quality which was a let down.

Stayed one night only at the Monte Pio...room was clean and well presented...shower rose didnt stay up which is very frustrating. Apart from the fact that the resteraunt was closed and my room card didnt work, I would recommend this hotel to others. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. If you like boutique hotels, this one's definitely worth giving... More

I stayed in room 126, a standard room and it was huge I couldn't believe the size of it..It had a king bed and 2 singles ..the king bed appeared way bigger then a normal king bed I've ever seen, but was comfy..yeah the windows rattled no big deal, it was windy ..the old furniture was amazing ..I didn't eat... Friendly staff very welcoming ..nice peaceful surrouding.. Nice old hotel with a history attached to it..Rooms are quite small but the beds were nice. The heater should be replaced..It's very old and can't figure out whether cold or hot air coming out. Breakfast buffet is nothing much Overall we enjoyed our stay..

I booked this hotel as I thought it has accor quality. Unfortunately, my judgement was wrong. I am pretty sure this only franchise accor brand but run by family business. When I booked, it said children can stay free with existing bed but when we checked in, the receptionist (husband) said we need to book different room and surcharge applied.... More

We loved the history of the place but found staff supercilious and cold - perhaps the thought of guests is better than the reality of our arrival. Breakfast with "matron" in charge at the desk was dreadful - the coffee awful and charged $16 for three cups on top of paying for breakfast was a final insult. The décor looks... More

I had one night here on a business trip. This old building in a previous life was a monastery and an orphanage, so it has history. It is very nicely appointed inside and has a real 'country estate' feel about it. I was there on a Monday night and unfortunately the restaurant doesn't open on Mondays! The local pub was... More

Can highly recommend the Mercure Maitland Monte Pio. We stayed on a Sunday night. The only disappointment was the restaurant was not spend, but Hungry Jacks close by, came to the rescue. The gentleman who greeted us, took us to our rooms and was very friendly. The rooms were well presented and up to the high standards of the Accor... More

It's a cold winter night. I got put in room 107. The room has had a soft refurb. I put the A/C on heat and cranked up the fan and temp settings. It ran for about 10 minutes and stopped. Had to turn it off and on again and it ran for another 2 minutes and stopped. I think maybe... More
