This former convent building is a terrific base for activities around Te Anau, Milford Sound and fiordland, and the service is first class. History, antique artefacts, books, free tea / coffee or wine/beer in the library, WiFi, cooked to order breakfast, help and advice with activities, friendly staff - this is the place to stay if you're staying in Te...

Te Anau Lodge was fantastic. The rooms are lovely, service excellent, food wonderful. From the comfortable sitting room with tea, cake and wine to the hearty breakfast with white chocolate and raspberry muffins to take away every little thing was excellent. Highly recommend.

We stayed in the main house and in my opinion it was very nice, full of history, treasure things, with very comfortable library with free vine and beer, cookes, coffe and tea. My room was very big, comfortable, clearn, with perfect towels and toileters. Breakfast was absolutely perfect. The hotel is a little bit outside the town but in walkable...

Hi Klinikos K Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy the stay as much as we would have liked you to. The issue with the WiFi is something we have addressed here on Tripadvisor before, because of Te Anau's remote location the WiFi service is not as...

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. It is a converted convent that they restored and kept all of the original features. We stayed in the Vestry room which was absolutely the best! They also have a library which is a wonderful relaxing venue where they offer free wine, water etc as well as desserts. Don't miss the...

A wonderful peaceful place to stay, beautiful grounds and interesting history. The rooms are small with no tea and coffee making facilities but there is a large, comfortable shared lounge with tea and coffee making facilities plus biscuits, homemade cake and an honesty bar. Friendly, helpful staff and lovely breakfasts with delicious homemade muffins.

Originally a convent that had been moved completely from its original site - an interesting history and Carl (the manager) was giving us the history on our look around this fabulous building. Loved The Library where tea/coffe are available continually, home baked cake too. Very comfortable and enjoyed a glass of wine there before heading out to dinner in Te...

We stayed at the lodge for two nights in February. The building like others have said is very quirky and has an interesting history being a former convent and then being dismantled and relocated. Although the lodge is out of town it's not too far to walk into town if you are a walker and most tourists we met at...

Te Anau Lodge is interesting and quirky but check what rooms they have available before committing to stay. The Bishop's Retreat is basically a shed in the car park. It lacks privacy and we felt uncomfortable leaving windows open day or night. The carpet was pretty grotty, as was much the the worn furniture; they'd shoved a single bed into...

Hi Rebecca, We are sorry that your stay was not as good as you and we would have wanted it to be. The Bishops Retreat while due for a new upgrade does not have old furniture as you suggest. Being separate from the main Lodge some do find it lacks the atmosphere of the Lodge itself, however many have found...
