We had to stay here because we hadn't booked a hotel and there was nowhere else. It looks like it was built in the 70s and hasn't been updated since - but the bed was comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. The duvet cover was very faded and the furnishings damaged. The bathroom was in a very poor state but...

The title says it all. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE!. Wifi is n't working, only if you sit near the reception. We took a shower in a bathroom that riekt of urine. The beds were sagging, in short a terrible place. Thank God we only stayed here for one night. Rest asured, iff we visit Te Anau again, we will...

Wayne M, General Manager at Fiordland National Park Lodge, responded to this review

A rather odd review in the context of other pleasant reviews. I would have thought it appropriate to contact the manager with room dissatisfaction rather than "suffer" unnecessarily. Without room details it is impossible to investigate further, but would appear a massive over reaction that falls well short of a constructive review. It is a real pity that trip advisor...

Fiordland National Park Lodge motel is a quiet place but with good facilities for a hotel in such an area. The shared kitchen could have done with being slightly bigger, but the rooms were of a good quality and the furnishings where good. Laundry facilities are good and the wading powder is free. The TV didn't have a remote and...

Hotel, motel and backpackers. Great location at Te Anau lake, ca 30 km behind Te Anau towards Milford Sound. It takes 1.5 hours to Milford Sound and over 2 hours to Queenstown. We were in a motel room which was clean and spacious, with a microwave, cooker, fridge and TV. No restaurant, WiFi available only in reception. Really nice and...

Lodge was perfect for our one night stay before we headed to Milford Sound. Can't beat the price compared to options in Te Anau. The view is beautiful and area is very quiet. The lodge's furniture is nothing fancy or modern, but our room was clean which is the important part. The floor in the bathroom got a little wet...

Stayed here with a friend in a twin room.. Ideal for what we were after because we were getting up before the sun to beat the traffic into Milford and get on an early boat.. We ate in te anau before bunking down due to it being another 30 mins past te anau.. The man on reception was helpful and...

We stayed in a double ensuite in the backpackers hostel. Really helpful staff, great cooking faciltities, clean rooms that were perhaps not the most modern but had a cracking view and were very comfortable. No mobile/data signal but cheap access available from reception. Driving through Te Anau beforehand helped us realise that this is a much quieter place to stay...

We wanted to stay slightly closer to Milford Sound, but in a place that was a little more quiet than Queenstown. We ended up staying here because they had vacancies, and because of the stunning views from their property of the lake. It was very quiet--which we loved. Be prepared to have all of your groceries bought prior to getting...

I agree with Rob Te Anau Downs is a long drive from town but the views and quiet are well worth it. Average facilities (Laundry, kitchen etc) but waking up to the sound of birds instead of cars and having an empty shore line to explore at night - priceless, Remember to keep doors closed as sandflies can be a...

Best western advertised with a bar and restaurant, but on arrival, we were told the bar and restaurant was not open tonight for dinner or in the morning for breakfast. Clearly not happy they did agree to provide the continental breakfast in our room free of charge. Had to go back 28 kms to Te Anau for a meal. Room...
