My partner and I had the pleasure of staying here for a couple of days in March and enjoyed the absolutely gorgeous views overlooking Dunedin and its harbour. A more delightful location would be hard to find, we just loved it and will return. It's truly amazing that such a castle could be built there back in the late 19th...

Dear John, We would like to extend our thanks for an outstanding review left regarding your recent stay with us at Larnach Castle Lodge. Views from the Lodge serve as the perfect backdrop in enjoying a relaxing stay. It is wonderful to learn that you were able to enjoy and appreciate the restoration work carried out by the Barker Family....

Enjoyed a double bed (with an extra twin bed) with sink in room. Shower & bath shared. Internet was good. Walking the grounds and touring the "castle" was an added bonus. Full breakfast in the common stable dining area was delicious. Staff at breakfast treated us like royalty. Guests also have the option to dine evenings in the castle.

This is actually a delayed review-- I stayed in the Lanarch Castle (Sea Room) in April 2015. I loved exploring the grounds and especially sitting on my balcony with a gorgeous view. The highlight of my 2 day stay was dinner in the lodge with 14 other travelers. The food was wonderful, the wine flowed, and the conversation was fascinating....

Excellent accommodation and food. Magnificent Castle and gardens. Expensive but worth every cent. Stayed in main Lodge with private facilities. Very clean. Room was decorated in rustic farm style. Bed (king size) looked like an old farm wagon with matching wardrobe and fittings . Room had magnificent panoramic views of the Otago Peninsula. Full breakfast is included in room price....

Two nights spent at the Larnach Castle & Lodge was just what we needed after almost three weeks of being on the "Go." Remote, but uniquely beautiful setting, Larnach Castle and Lodge has commanding views from it's mountaintop location of the Otago Peninsula. Our corner "Victorian style" room was very comfortable with large bath, and with wraparound deck, which provided...

We did not arrive until very late in the day but the staff could not have been more helpful settling us into our rooms. Both were a good size and well appointed. Breakfast the following morning was excellent. Despite the thick fog the following morning he included self guided tour of the castle was fantastic. The AV guide was the best...

This was such a pleasure, the staff was helpful and friendly and the facility was beautiful. Great views, beautiful sunrise out of our window and very spacious. It was fun to dine in the castle as well.

Super easy check in for a one night stay in a corner "attic" Stable room. Cute little room - separate showers and bathroom outside the individual rooms which are shared between 4 or so other rooms - rarely saw anyone else in the Stables while we were there. Comfy double bed - if your tall you will likely hit your...

Hmm, my feelings on this place are very mixed. The setting is lovely and access to the grounds while the castle is closed is lovely. The gardens are nice and views spectacular. The rooms are, I believe, all individually decorated. Our room was deep red with traditional furniture. The bathroom was a good size and very clean. The bed was...

It was after dark when we drove up a foggy eerie road we reached the gates and were greeted at the steps of the castle by one of our hosts . He escorted us to our room explaining some of the history of the castle whilst carrying our luggage. The room set at a perfect temperature and the bed turned...
