We booked the whole place for a week for my in-laws to stay. The hosts were so welcoming and kind, made them felt that they are staying at a friend's place. The rooms are very nice, they are clean and elegant, very lovely place. The breakfast was great, makes you too full to eat anything at lunchtime.

This lovely B & B is tucked away from the hustle of the city. Janet has the great kiwi friendliness and made our stay very home like. Anyone who appreciates older homes will marvel at what Janet and Ian have done to modernize yet retain the old charm.

My job requires me to travel extensively and I get to stay in many hotels. Generally I am happy if I get a comfortable bed and a shower that works in a convenient location. I stumbled onto Tangley about 10 months ago and wondered if it offered a viable alternative to the many mainstream hotels in Christchurch. I have now...

After all the glowing reviews, we must have visited on a bad day. There was no offer of the advertised welcome drink, no cups, glasses or milk (until we asked) in the room for tea making, and a very definite "no cooked breakfast" available to accommodate our domestic flight leaving at 8.45am. We were told that breakfast was available only...

We had only one night in Christchurch but Janet and Ian made it very special. Dropped us at a restaurant provided a lovely bottle of wine and a great home cooked breakfast. Helpful recommendations on what to do in the area. Lovely comfortable room and I'm embarrassed to say we ate all the chocolates .......very generous hosts and a great...

Excellent place to stay. Lots of character and a high standard bed and breakfast. Janet and Ian are great hosts and very helpful. The twin bedroom is perfect for a young family. Our kids (13 and 9) we're very comfortable on the single.

We only stayed for one night but had an excellent time with a warm welcome. We were upgraded and this was an unexpected delight. Ian and Janet were excellent hosts and explained the rebuilding of Christchurch. We had a great meal nearby and finished off with an early start for the tranz alpine and a trip, from Greymouth to Queenstown.

Christchurch was a shock so it was something of a relief to retreat to the Tangley and a friendly welcome from Janet. The room was comfortable and well equipped with all that we could want. The house itself is a fine example of old Christchurch, carefully restored by the Wallaces and filled with interesting family pictures and paintings of NZ....

We were made so welcome by our kind and interesting hosts. It was just a one night stay and a chance to see Christchurch again, during its deconstruction phase. We hope to return to see the brand new city eventually. Janet and Ian were most sociable and helpful, including a discount at a local restaurant. The room was spacious and...

A beautiful homely experience with excellent local Hosts Janet and Ian. The best breakfasts on offer hot and cold and Janet makes a great coffee! A very cosy big house in a great location and a very pleasant change from staying in a hotel motel. Very friendly people who made my stay very enjoyable, and with the most comfortable bed...

“We stayed in the Ardlochan Suite which like is beautifully furnished with an en suite bathroom. You should visit the website: www.tangley.co.nz which is informative and the owners are more than happy to respond to queries and needs. Noise is not an issue as the house is set in from the road with a lovely garden and mature trees.”
