Christopher and I would like to thank Karen and Alan at the Elm Tree House, for making our stay in Christchurch a memorable one! The room was absolutely lovely, we really appreciated the attention to detail – and of course Christopher really loved the large bath after running the marathon! The 1920's house has been beautifully restored and has kept...

My husband and I stayed in the Cromwell suite for 3 nights on arrival in NZ and 1 night before departing to Auckland. Karen and Allan were the perfect hosts, offering wine and cheese for all the guests every night before we headed out for dinner at a delicious restaurant recommended by them. They have two adorable miniature dachshunds who...

This is the best possible melding of antique and modern. Karen and Allen have provided all modern amenities while keeping the house totally authentic, circa 1900. They go totally beyond in their hosting providing friendly and highly competent services and more importantly, friendship. We would never stay elsewhere in Christchurch. This is five stars in any competent writer's book!

Stayed at Elm Tree House for the first and last nights of our holiday in New Zealand. Location is great - 10 minutes to the airport but set in a quiet little village close to the main attractions. House and gardens are wonderful. Owners Karen and Allan were really welcoming and each evening we enjoyed a glass of wine with...

This was my second trip to Elm Tree House (the first was back in 1999) and Karen and Allan were VERY accomodating. My wife and I were on our honeymoon and had a spot that the tour operator planned for us go bad out in Arthur's Pass and I called Karen frantically seeking a home. Fortunately they were able to...

We stayed at Elm Tree House for 4 nights over Christmas. The hosts were very welcoming and freindly. Their local knowledge of the south island helped us plan several fantastic day trips. The location of the B & B is ideal, as it is within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. We would not hesitate to recommend Elm Tree...

Stayed twice now and highly recommend it. It is an elegant house beautifully kept and the owners are a most interesting couple who have travelled and lived much of their lives in the UK and know well what experienced travellers expect in such a stay. Great location for restaurants and easy access to airport.
