This has potential - but needs investment and decluttering. Our room was the Maid's Room at the back, which was a bit dowdy with too much frilly nylon (curtains, canopy over the bed, covers on the tissue box...) noisy air conditioning units when we opened the window, and a slightly too soft bed with bedding that matched the 1970's vibe...

A lovely imposing old house built around 1861. The majestic wooden staircase is a wow factor on arrival. Met by the lovely new owner who bought the place in July 2016. She showed us to our room, up the back staircase to Room 10, the Servants Quarters. This room was huge with a large double bed and a single as...

Our short stay at Eliza's was delightful from beginning to end. A friend traveling with us had made the booking so we didn't know what to expect. It's a beautiful property - once a gracious private home, it still retains many original features. We were able to park for free in the front car park; able to check in early...

We arrived slightly early and were able to book in and leave our cases. About 10/15 minutes to nearest restaurants and centre of city. This is a true quirky boutique hotel built in 1861 and since made earthquake proof. It therefore has loads of character. Service at reception and at breakfast was good and we were really pleased to get...

Stayed just one night before flying out. Nice B&B in a central location. Lovely old building but a few minor comments - firstly our room faced the front and the rather busy raid. We had good weather and opened slept with a window open and consequently got some road noise early in the morning. However the room does have a/c...

This was a return trip to Eliza's as our previous experiences have been so wonderful. Eliza's is a colonial type hotel which was rebuilt after the earthquakes of 2011. Exactly the same as before! You really can't tell the difference! Whilst not in the CBD, it is on the road that leads into the centre which takes about 15-20 mins...

Quaint, even old fashioned, the atmosphere here is wonderful. The staff, including Eliza, are so thoughtful. We missed the deadline for breakfast, so we're happy to go without; however we got a call in our room half an hour after b'fast should have finished to let us know they would keep it open if we'd like to go now. I've...

On a busy road, Elizas was probably a class act in its heyday, but is now a tired 'commercial travellers'' hotel. The rooms are a good size and the bathroom well-equipped, but the public areas have seen better days. On two of the three days we were there we were woken by noisy busy meetings which seemed to start at...

My wife and I recently stayed 2 nights in Eliza's Manor. The historic house was an ideal location to explore Christchurch in that is fairly close to the city center. Our room though having considerable Victorian charm was also very modern with an up to date luxury bathroom and ventilation system. In Christchurch we enjoyed punting on the Avon, the...

We stayed here for one night after arriving in New Zealand. It was just what we needed after long flight from US. We walked over to the beautiful Botanical Gardens in the afternoon & walked to a nice little Irish pub for dinner. Accommodations very comfortable, beautiful property, and loved the little stuffed bear!!
