The front counter staff are always friendly and welcoming. This time I was in a double ensuite (room 318) which was situated near the back of the hotel and further away from the traffic. There was a constant "hum" of what was probably aircon units etc but it wasn't overly intrusive. Once again, a nice comfortable room with modern furniture...

In close proximity to the Cake Tin stadium, this is a great place to have a drink before and after the game. The staff are awesome and the patrons friendly. It is a quick easy walk to the stadium, even undercover if its raining. Not far from central city either.

Yes, it is a backpackers/budget hotel. But I have stayed there more than 10 times over the years. It has a lot of charm. Did you know that Queen Elizabeth stayed there once? I get a single room with a window that opens and an updated en suite in a prime location right next to Parliament for $80, plus free...

We stayed at the Waterloo and it was great. Really handy to the train station (just across the road) which is great after a long trip, just around the corner from the Beehive and the main shopping areas and the waterfront is just across the road. The hotel is old but our room was lovely..nothing flash but it had everything...

Popped over for some more work drinks and a game of pool at the Backpackers bar. Love this place, the drinks are cheap, pool and giant jenga is always fun and the people you meet are all international, hot and great to have a chat with. Highly recommend the shots and hot wedges whilst drinking. Haven't tried the hotel part...

The location of this place is awesome, just in front of the train station and the Bluebridge ferry station. The views from the rooms are quite good too, but that's all. 1 hour of free WiFi, and if you want more, be prepared to pay high! The room was good, brand new beds I guess, with spacious bathroom inside the...

Good place for a cheaper night. Full kitchen downstairs and a café you can buy nice, cheap food. Room a bit cold and window old so wind whistled through - not great for a light sleeper. Had a single room with shared ensuite - this meant you went through one door and had the bathroom and then 2 rooms off...

A once grand hotel turned into a backpackers. I expected more from the pictures but was greeted by a cold lobby with even colder staff. Please don't forget to get your 20$ plastic key deposit back when you check out. Also when asked about wifi you are told you must pay but fact is when you go to sign on...

I booked for an en suite family room which had a double bed and a single bed. The first problem we encountered was opening of the door. The door handle was so old and had a weird way of opening which we never experienced in any hotel before. There was no view from the window apart from the wall of...
