Stayed 5 nights for business, and overall it was an unremarkable stay. Pros. Good location to downtown and nice views from some rooms. Room a good size and a comfortable bed. Cons. No safe box in room and shower over bath is not my preference. Could be tricky for guests with mobility issues. Rate includes internet package (free 1gb) that...

High recommended. The Grand of WN still has it -- modern elements having taken nothing from the charm of the place. Very helpful staff and quiet rooms well above the traffic. My room had a good view and I think the same could be said for most rooms higher up. Either way, you're only minutes walk from the CBD and...

Arrived extremely late after delayed flight (2.15 am). Understand that new staff need training but perhaps don't choose the middle of the night to check in someone who's there for less than 8 hours. Bed was hard but room was clean and spacious, shower was very awkward to use and over the bath. Room service eggs on toast were unpleasant...

Stayed for a couple of nights with work - it's really handy being able to access the CBD via the hotel elevator. Rooms are large and quiet (only comment is that the shower heads must have been installed by a short plumber :)). Breakfast buffet had a good choice of food but you had to pay for espresso coffee separately.

A Wellington institution and rightly so. The James Cook sets the benchmark for all hotels in Wellington. Service is outstanding and nothing is ever a problem. There is a hustle and bustle to the place that can't but help to infect you with the Wellington Vibe.

Hotel was comfortable, clean and had all facilities you would expect from this type of hotel. Internet was very poor - very slow and only able to barely pick up emails. The location is within easy walking distance to all city conveniences.

Really enjoyed our stay at the James Cook hotel , the location is excellent. We found the parking very easy because the car was valet parked without any fuss. The check in was quick, even though we arrived early. The breakfast was excellent, everything you could wish for. Would highly reccommend.

The hotel decor is old and dated and I would suggest that when it was built in the late 70's nothing has changed not even the carpet. It was however quiet and the bed comfortable. The restaurant on the 17th floor has a limited menu for dinner was not an option. The ground floor restaurant (not open Sunday) is a much...

Stayed here for 2 nights, as soon as we checked into our room I notified front desk that our sliding bathroom door was jammed and it made it slightly difficult to get into the bathroom. They didn't fix it or worse still didn't even advise us they couldn't. The rooms are just ok, definitely need a refresh. The other thing...
