As the saying goes...never judge a book... This place is like a little self contained village and has pretty much absolutely everything you need. This is an 'old school' style resort with its own golf course. Reminds me of Dirty dancing...

Went to this fantastic resort with family to celebrate New Year. We stayed in one of the units which was modern and very comfortable. Lots of things to do at the resort and in the surrounding areas. all the facilities were first class and available at all times. Although the weather was not all that warm we made the most...

Stayed two nights for a conference - whilst the resort has been around forever and is looking a little tired in places, the setting, staff and quality of food more than make up for it. I stayed in a Family Villa (313) and enjoyed a couple of great nights sleep - the villas are tucked away down the back of...

Ok, it's not the newest hotel in the Taupo area and it is definitely just a little bit tired - but the staff are very friendly and helpful, the position is stunning and peaceful and the price is fair. The room is well equipped with everything you need, and it is very clean and comfortable. Overall it delivers as expected...

A great place for families and couples to get away from it all. Everything you need is within the resort, so you only need to venture out if you really want to. Great food and swimming and the rooms are very comfortable.

Spent several days over Easter at the Resort in one of their "villa" rooms. Was absolutely fantastic! Plenty of room for us and our little girl - even when it was raining we could all be inside and she could have all her toys spread out and there was still heaps of room. Room service from the Pavillion Restaurant was...

I hadn't stayed at Wairakei for years since a company conference around 10 years ago. It still is a fairly good place to stay with lovely grounds. The restaurant was better than expected as at first glance the menu looked a little old school. It's also close to Taupo and Huka Falls too.

Hotel is spread over quite a large area. Pleasant grounds with two outdoor swimming pools - smaller one with pool bar, looked busier, however there is a second larger pool about 250 metres from reception, hidden by fir trees. Both pools heated year round between 32-38 degrees. Staff obliging, particularly restaurant staff. Good evening meal & selection for breakfast. Rooms...

We stayed at Wairakei Resort in Taupo during Christmas- New years break. The resort was beautiful with small park and trampolines for the kids and 2 heated thermal pools and we got a good rate for 2 nights. But unfortunately, the bathrooms were too old that they had some funny smell. The thing I hated about the place was the...
