We were made to feel special from the greeting we received even before we got through the front door to the fresh muffins packed for our homeward journey. Our stay at the Pillars was the epitome of an excellent B&B experience. We can't wait to return.

We just spent two nights here and can't rate it high enough. Our room was wonderful, great facilities and a huge Californian king bed. Invited for pre-dinner drinks each night, hosts very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast each morning was delicious and we also were able to take away the muffins (which were made fresh each...

From the get to Gilly our host greeted us with smiles, just like your mum would. We instantly felt like home. This beautiful Mansion is impressive from the moment you approach the front gate. It has an immaculate garden which is well kept by hubby of the house Brian, and the accomodation is absolutely stunning. Gilly makes sure you feel...

We began our travel through NZ from the North Island (Auckland) to the South Island (Queenstown). We stayed two nights in Pillars Retreat and wished we could have stayed there longer. It was without question a highlight of our trip! Our plans to hike Tongariro had to be canceled due to weather on the mountain so our gracious host helped...

So glad you had a wonderful time here at The Pillars Retreat, it was a pleasure to guide you through the disappointment of not being able to walk the Tongariro Crossing and as you realized there is plenty to do and see in the area, including your day trip to Hawkes Bay.

The Pillars Retreat is a true retreat sitting a couple of miles outside of Taupo. The property is immaculate and sits in lovely gardens. Gilly and Brian are the most wonderful of hosts. At the end of our three night stay we felt like family rather than paying guests! Gilly cooks a mean breakfast and the best freshly baked muffins....

Thank you so much for reviewing your recent stay, it was a real pleasure to host you both. Staying three days gave you a chance to have a relaxing day to recharge the batteries and to see you so comfortable, that you fell asleep in front of the fire in our guest lounge on a wet day, is really what our...

My wife and I travel extensively and have stayed in many hotels, motels, Inns and B & Bs, and I must say the Pillars Retreat is a rare find. The home is magnificent and the grounds around this place are stunning. But the best part of our stay was our host Brian and Gilly. they made us feel as if...

Thank you so much for your lovely review of your stay with us,and it certainly is a place to have more than one nights stay if time allows. There is a lot to see and experience within the central plateau area or just relax and catch your breathe. We look forward to hosting you again in the future.

After driving for six hours in the rain we were frazzled. We were quickly put at ease by Gilly and Brian. Our rooms were large, clean, comfortable and well appointed. The property is gorgeous. We particularly enjoyed a welcome drink with our hosts. We learned so much about the local area, places to go and things to see, and about...

We are always concerned when guests have a big driving day especially in the rain, so it was good to hear The Pillars Retreat was the place to rest and recharge again. This central north island area has many interesting sights to discover and we are very happy to discuss what there is to see with guests.

Back home in the UK after a month in NZ, and without doubt this was the most enjoyable place we stayed at. As most of the other reviewers have commented on, it is the genuine pleasure that Gilly and Brian exude in having you stay with them in what is obviously their home rather than a business which makes it...

A wonderful B&B just out of Taupo. Gilly and Brian are great hosts, we and our friends arrived late St Patrick's Day afternoon after a long drive. We spent a delightful hour having a drink with our hosts, Gilly managed to get us reservations in the restaurant we wanted. Huge rooms, very clean, every amenity we might need. Gilly's breakfast...

Once again we had the opportunity to stay at this amazing B & B just outside of Lake Taupo. The owners Gilly and Brian are two of the most wonderful hosts you could hope for. The place is always immaculate and the specially prepared breakfasts are out of this world. We particularly enjoyed our time just sitting and sharing stories....

It is always a treat to have guests return again and especially when they tell us that their experience was just as good second time around. Thank you Shirley & Barry and we look forward to keeping in touch and sharing more stories.
