This motel is in a quiet location yet only a few minutes walk from the bars, restaurants and lakefront. The room was spacious, with cooking facilities. There is a large supermarket within walking distance. The highlight was the 2 thermal pools, one a spa the other a plunge pool at 40 C. The plunge pool looked rather gloomy because it... More

Very large, clean and warm unit. Excellent value for money and the location is superb only a 5 minute easy walk away from the Lakefront, Government Gardens and Eat Street. It's also just out of the noise of town, so good for a quiet night's sleep. Great thermal pool. Recommend.

We stayed 2 nights in this motel, although the building is old and there is sulfer smell, the motel is at a very good location. The staff, especially the people at the desk were wonderful. The room was very clean, good bed to sleep and a kitchen when you want to cook yourself. Close to restaurants, lake, museum and parks.

Ambassador Thermal Motel is a very central motel – very close to the museum / Polynesian Spa (tourist trap) / lake front / town centre. Plenty of eating options / cafes close by. The pools at the motel were very good, the indoor mineral pool feels very potent. Remember it is a mineral pool – not a swimming pool (the... More

There is no doubt that this is a well sited Motel which allows you to walk easily to the Lake and the City centre, but the rooms are very 'tired' and the indoor swimming pool...!! No thanks! But it isn't expensive, so may be thought of as acceptable for a short stay.

Nice motel located in the less busy end of town but conveniently located for a short walk to restaurants and sights. Very well equipped studio unit, which enabled us to cook a meal for ourselves, which is a welcome change when traveling. The owner was lovely and could not have been more helpful.

Stayed here for one night recently. An older type of motel which was clean and tidy and a very comfortable bed which made for a great sleep. Thermal and spa pools are a plus when it comes to staying here. Would have no hesitation in recommending to others and would stay again if the opportunity arises.

We stayed here at New Year, in a room right next to the thermally heated outdoor pool, and my son spent every possible moment in it - straight from bed into the pool in the morning, and he even watched some New Year fireworks (at 9pm) from underwater! But apart from that highlight, the staff were really helpful and the... More

Great apt. We had a corner one which was excellent as Windows everywhere. Well equipped. Lovely oven. The thermal pool was brilliant ( follow instructions which we read afterwards) & remove jewellery. Silver goes a dusky black! Philippa greeted us warmly on reception & was delightfully helpful. A great place to stay in Rotorua.

This hotel is right on the edge of the lake and the centre of town. The rooms are a bit dated but this was reflected in the price we paid. The thermal pools available to residents within the hotel are amazing and well worth using. We would recommend this hotel for short stays.
