Rooms were tidy, and vintage decorated as per the photos. A couple of bits of furniture didn't match the theme, but apart from that, very beautiful rooms and hotel. Unfortunately the cleaning wasn't to detail, and a lot of rooms had dust around and on the furniture. Can't be very hard to get a duster out! Made the big mistake...

Nice accommodations. Great staff went above and beyond the call of duty. Strong wifi in the room, room service was good. Very comfortable beds. Nice kitchenette. Somewhat older hotel, but really nice for a traveling family. Lovely building and great location. Food in restaurant was very good, included carnivore, vegan/vegetarian option and kids menu. Enjoyed high tea in the dining...

On paper this hotel should be great being right in the centre of Rotorua and within easy walking distance of many restaurants and the lake front. Our room was a suite with sitting area, kitchen, big bathroom, and squashed in bedroom with a 'double' bed somewhat smaller than a queen sized bed and a single bed as well. A real...

Princes Gate Hotel is a very pretty old building in Rotorua within walking distance of many restaurants and shopping. We stayed in the annex which is apartments, right next door to the old building. The accommodation was very comfortable. We just found a lack of attention to detail, by the cleaning staff. This was communicated to the reception staff and...

I'm sad to give this a 3 star but that is because of the room, which was stiffingly hot with little circulation (I think some rooms or apartments in the hotel are meant to have air con though). Two fans made the room a little more bearable but I wouldn't say we had particularly hot weather. Most of the hotel...

We stayed here for 2 nights in February 2017. We had the Steiner room which was lovely. Shabby chic design and the bed was so comfortable! Staff were friendly and helpful also. We dined in the restaurant and really enjoyed that too. Would recommend this hotel, from seeing the reviews they are having a refurb, we were very impressed with...

We had great hope for a 2 night stay at this historic hotel, when we arrived and shown the room we were not happy with the tiny room with no windows. However the manager Gyrinder upgraded us to a better room although the bed was not that comfortable we had a reasonable stay and recognising that the room issue was...

We drove past this hotel the previous day and thought how nice it looked. So the following afternoon we decided to go for lunch. We arrived about 1.45pm on a sunday afternoon. We went inside to ask if they were still doing lunch as time was getting on. There was a young lady behind the counter looking very stressed? Not sure...

Hi Many J Thank you for your feedback and I regret that your lunch experience was disappointing. The delay in receiving your meal was unacceptable and a result of a mistake by a staff member. I have discussed this matter with both my Food and Beverage Manager and Head Chef to ensure systems are in place to eliminate a repeat...

It's a very unique hotel. Old Victorian type place. We had one of the designer rooms, the Elizabeth Room. If you want AC, this is not the room for you. Most others do have AC I think. There is no elevator (maybe there is one out I didn't see it) so that might be a issue if your older. The...

Hi Dave H Thank you for your review. I am sorry that the lack of aircon in your room, and the hot pools being too hot spoilt your stay with us. The hotel is undergoing significant refurbishment including installation of air con into every room and suite. Since your visit a number of rooms (including the room you stayed in)...

The hotel itself is ok. A bit dated (we were in a suite off to the left), and our bed very very old and saggy. That said, the spa is seriously amazing. They have clearly tapped into the thermal water bodies that are common in the area, and it was by far the hottest spa I've been in. Magnificent!

Dear Andrew Thank you for your review and I am so pleased you enjoyed our hot pools! Yes, we utilise geothermal energy with water for the hotel and our hot pools heated by geothermal means. Our hot pools are being upgraded having new pumps and filters installed to provide more consistent temperatures. As part of our refurbishment programme aircon is...
