On the upside, location is central and I really liked the positivity and energy of the staff. The lounge has a pool-table and table-tennis table. There is also i door climbing. On the downside, facilities are a bit worn. Even though the rooms have big lockers that can easily fit a 70L backpack, the room is worn and the bed...

I stayed for two nights with a friend, for the price it was awesome! We got a private room rather then a shared room. We didnt use the shared facilities at all but they looked fine. The room itself was clean, the shower has a steep step which wouldnt be good for disabled people. It did back onto an alley...

Rock Solid Backpackers was fine for price, considering Rotorua was a bit dearer than a lot of places we stayed during our NZ trip. I shared a double room with my cousin as we changed our accommodation on short notice. The room was clean and modern and the shower/bathroom facilities were great. We got a nice peaceful nights sleep on...

I only stayed for one night but I would have liked to stay longer. The hostel seemed quite new. Specially the kitchen and the room. The kitchen is well equipped. The people at the reception were always very helpfull. It is placed in the city centre so it is very convenient. Awesome hostel to stay in.

A nice wee hostel, cheap and cheerful. The staff didn't seem to bothered about speed when they were checking us in but it was fine enough. We stayed in a mixed dorm, a couple of bunk beds and a couple of singles. There are cupboards you can use but take your own padlock. There is a rock climbing wall that...

Nice hostel, clean and comfortable. Personnal is nice and helpful. Location is good, you can go to the lake or some park in less than a 10 minutes walk. You might need to take the bus if you want to go to the puia, the maori village or the redwood forest. I would definetly recommand.

I had a single private room that was clean and comfortable. Some of the guests didn't have the courtesy to lower their voices when coming in late or leaving early but the kitchen and bathroom areas were always clean and tidy. Margy (I hope I've spelt her name right) couldn't have been more helpful in recommending tours that suited me...

This hostel is quite busy as Rotoura is a hub for outdoor activities. As such, it isn't terribly quiet especially if you are near the kitchen which is open until 12AM each night and opens at 6AM each evening. The rooms are pretty standard size with a good size locker for each guest. The beds are very comfortable and each...

Had a twin room with private shower. Shared areas were clean and housekeeping rules for guests were mostly adhered to. Weather was very hot so had the windows open and the smell from outside was pretty overwhelming. A fan in the room would have made all the difference.

Kia ora Ann Thank you for the feedback, we are pleased you enjoyed your ensuite room. We are sorry if the famous Rotorua sulphur could be smelled from your room but this is very unusual for our location. Likewise the hot summer weather, we do have fans available from reception and we do encourage our guests to cool down in...

We booked a quiet private room but they provided a noisy room if we open window. But no fresh air at room, if we closed the window. Pro: Very central location Cons: Not kind at all in service and room with dust.

Kia ora We do apologize on behalf of the renovation work being undertaken by a neighboring building. Unfortunately as it not part of our property all we can do is ask them to keep the noise between business hours and keep the dust to a minimum, which we agree is not ideal but unfortunately part of being in a city...
