This is a beautifully positioned house with wide views across the lake, large clean guest rooms and the family are very welcoming. However, the walls are very thin and I could hear everything including telephone conversations from the rooms both sides of me. There is little privacy as the balcony goes the full length of the guest rooms and if,... More

The views from our room were great - we could even see planes coming in to land away over the other side of the lake. There was a kitchenette for the use of the 4 rooms, tho as it was a public area this meant no staggering out of bed straight for the kettle! Breakfast was probably the best we... More

This B&B is a 15 minute drive from the town centre, where there are lots of good restaurants, and 10 minutes drive from the Mitai Maori village, where we experienced an excellent traditional Hangi (Maori dinner and culture show). It is in a residential area, so away from the noise and traffic of Rotorua town. Our room had an excellent... More

This beautiful house is right on the edge of Lake Rotorua complete with it's own jetty in a nice residential area away from the smell of the thermal areas. We were welcomed by Bettye who we loved and Smoochie the dog. Shortly after arrival we met Nige and the boys. Nige gave us some great tips on places to eat.... More

My husband and I decided to stay at A-Kahu for two nights in early March based on the glowing recommendation in Frommer's. We were not disappointed. The house is situated in a lovely residential neighborhood less than ten minutes from the center of town by car. The view over Lake Rotorua is spectacular. We were welcomed on arrival by Bettye,... I must say the rooms are lovely and comfortable, have a great view and the house is in a convenient location. Nigel was off on a fishing trip with his sons so he stayed for only a few minutes one morning. He is the friendly one as is his mother, Bettye. As for Kiri, she is severe looking, efficient and... My wife and I stayed here for one night in January 2012 and this was a grave error - we should have stayed for longer! Keri and Nigel are great hosts and made us very welcome, giving plenty of advice that made our stay in Rotorua extra enjoyable. The room was fabulous, very spacious, stylishly decorated with plenty of local... More

Keri and Nigel were the kindest, friendliest hosts. Nothing was too much trouble despite my grumpiness on arrival. A beautiful property. Highly recommended. Thank you. Jackie.

This B & B is in a residential area of Rotorua five minutes drive from downtown. There are four large guest rooms with beautiful views of Lake Rotorua and the town. The hosts, Nigel and Kiri, were very friendly and helpful in providing us with information on things to do and see in Rotorua and surround. Nigel's mom, Bettye, was... More

Nice sized room with a fabulous view across the lake. There was a wardrobe but there were so many authentic art and crafts on the shelves that there was little room to put our unpacked items. The separately located kitchette was very welcome and the help yourself drinks were handy. The home baking and excellent breakfast were very sociable with... More

“The middle room was the smallest, and there wasn't enough storage space for clothes, so we left our suitcases open on the floor. Try for the other rooms if you can, tho as our whole trip was booked through a travel agent, I've no idea if they cost more.”
