Our neighbours stay here when they come to Napier and had told us about this place. On their recommendation alone I went ahead and booked it for our kid-free getaway for my husbands 40th and it is an amazing hotel. So much history, “old-world” feel with all modern amenities. The decor is stunning and location is a real plus. The staff were so attentive and even though the bar was closing up at 9pm on a Saturday night (not used to that being from Wellington!?) the lovely barman said we were the last drinks. All good- were just going to head back up to our room and he said we’re free to take the drinks up to our room! Best!!! Also when we had arrived to check in the staff had a complimentary bottle of bubbly in the mini fridge for us as they knew it was my husbands 40th. Can’t fault this place and the excellent staff. Felt very welcome and we will come stay again soon.

What a delightful place to stay. The staff and service were wonderful and very attentive to our needs. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very comfortable. It was our anniversary and they surprised with a lovely gift to celebrate, so thoughtful! We would highly recommend it!

This beautiful hotel summarises what Napier is all about, Art Deco. The hotel is a pleasure to stay at and whilst it lacks the facilities of other hotels such as spa, gym etc., etc., the ambience of the place is absolutely perfect. We had a couple of nights staying here and would definitely be back again. All the staff were helpful and friendly. You really do feel like you are staying in a piece of history and whilst the restoration/decor is quite ‘busy’ (you will see what I mean if you stay!) it’s perfectly in keeping for the hotel. Enjoying an evening gin and tonic on the balcony whilst watching the world go by outside was wonderful and really took you back in time. The hotel does have touches of ‘old hollywood’ in its ambience. I would recommend that everyone experiences the Masonic and you won’t be disappointed - we stayed in one of the suites, which was well appointed and the bed was large and comfortable.

We spent a glorious three days at the Masonic and cannot fault the experience. The service from the lovely night woman on reception was outstanding. Our room, though quite compact given the age of the building, was spotless and beautifully furnished. Free parking was a breeze, just an easy walk a block away. It was great to be able to access the upper verandah via the French door in our room. All in all, a fantastic experience. We will be back!

Ok hotel in good location. But each night it was quite noisy until about midnight. Sounded like lots of bangs and shifting of furniture. Not sure why. We were in room 106. Furthermore, we accidentally left our Hohepa cheese (unopened) in the fridge after checkout at 10am that we were planning to take home with us . We phoned back at 3:15pm to inform them and that we would come and pick it up only to be told that housekeeping had been and it had disappeared??. That was $30 worth of unopened cheese!!!! Not a good look for the hotel. How come it wasn’t handed un by staff? Doubt it was thrown out given it was unopened and sealed…. So not very happy with that. Would not stay here again.
