This is a good hostel, in the heart of the city. It is not too big or a chain hostel and the owner is friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay here - the kitchen is not very big and they could do with more fridges. The bathrooms - the need separate ones for guys and girls. I can't say...

There is a lot of longterm people staying, so it's hard to connect if you're just there for 2 nights. The common areas and kitchen are really spacious. Everything is outdated and smells kind of old, but we had a lovely calm stay and the location of the hostel is awesome!

Lovely hostel, great atmosphere, friendly people. The lady manager Kay was so helpful and informative when asking things to do around town. Always happy and smiling with other guests. The downfall that made me feel ill, was watching the other manager, Kays husband Jeff, yell so loud and scream things at her too terrible to write on here. And he...

Really nice open environment for meeting people and listening to music or even quiet spaces to chill out and have some privacy. Beds are comfortable and place is kept very clean. Large kitchen area for communal cooking and the staff are suuuper friendly and inviting. Free pool table which always seems to have people looking for competitors. Would recommend this...

I stayed at the Criterion for about 3 weeks and the staff made sure i felt as if I were home. The energy is incredible and safe. Kay, the manager, is sweetest and makes sure everyone knows she is here to help 24/7. Literally. You can knocked on her door anytime and she will help you out. I've had the...

The Criterion was a hard place to leave. We stayed 2 weeks and made so many friends, the hostel staff basically became my second parents. The common room is always teaming with life. Chilling on the comfy couches or playing pool (free always), making a feast in the open plan kitchen, everyone is always chatting and exchanging stories. The rooms...

I stayed for 3 weeks from the famed Art Deco weekend through St. Patricks day. Every day felt like coming home to family. Most of the long term stay people developed lifetime friendships. Kay the owner, was like a second mother to all of us, she made sure we all remained in high spirits. The beds are clean and comfortable...

Came over with some friends, booked last minute and can see why it's ranked so highly and recommended so often. Refurbished old hotel that offers many grandeur sitting areas with a beautiful verandah seating outside on the main floor. Definitely spacious and comfortable and has a nice clean fully functioning kitchen with more then enough cutlery, dish-ware and glassware. Clean...

We arrived to check in sometime mid-afternoon (ie. standard check in time) but there was nobody at the desk - there was however a mobile number to call and a phone that was free to use. Good plan in theory, but we called the number 8 times over a period of about 40 minutes and nobody picked up! During this...
