Private room, next to TV lounge, expensive, broken bed with old matress, broken locks on toilets, broken windows, unhelpful staff. There are plenty of other alternatives in Napier - this is the worst YHA I have ever stayed at. We only stayed one night of our booked two-night stay. Went to alternate accommodation even if we lost the cost of...

Wonderfull staff, very welcoming and helpful. We arrived late, one of the last remaining bed was in a messy room (3 guys were living in for couple of weeks), so the manager asked us if we wanted to see the room before booking. Each of us paid 26$ for a bed in a 4 people dorm. The bathrooms were clean,...

We recently stayed here for three nights and I would be happy to return here in the future. The hostel is an older building in a great location near the sea and within a few minutes walk of the town centre, super market, cinema and food options. Kitchens were great; bathrooms were good; rooms were very basic but tidy and...

Old house, next to the city center and face the ocean. The rooms are very very small and oldfashioned, not set up for backpackers travelling with big bags. Kitchen is quite big with all facilities, bathrooms are quite old also but clean. You can get free wifi here, and stay in the dinning room face the ocean, or in the...

Rooms are nice and spacious. We stayed in a 4 bed dorm. Staff were friendly and had a nice backyard area. Plenty of showers and communal areas, large kitchen area. Would recommend to stay here again 😀

I stayed for 2 nights while travelling up north and this was a great hostel. Spacious rooms with plenty of electrical fittings. It got very cold at night but extra duvets and hot water bottles were provided at no extra charge. The rooms and bathrooms were clean, only issue was with the showers, at 5ft 6, the top of my...

This hostel will be prefect if the water pressure is good enough to have a proper shower. It took me 1 hour to shower because of the water pressure and unstable water heater! Other than that, the room is clean and the kitchen is tidy. The location is a bonus.

We did a fourteen night driving tour around New Zealand in 2010, staying in 10 hostels (we'd bought a book of vouchers along with 14 days car hire in a YHA package). This hostel was without doubt the best of those ten. (By the way Rotorua YHA, although fairly new was dreadful). Hostels are best when they have character, and...

The hostel is conveniently situated, close to the I-Site, the town centre and the supermarkets. I had a car but it stayed in its spot the full week-end as I walked and biked around only. The room was clean, but cold. They provide hot bottles so I survived ! :) Great idea: the towels hangers on the wall of the...

Such a cute hostel! Old house vibe. We stayed here for 1 night in a single room overlooking the beach. The room was clean and had fresh towels for us. The bathrooms were clean and well kept. There was a lounge area upstairs with a TV, couches & fireplace. Kitchen was spacious and also clean. Wifi was great as well!...
