In a nice part of town with shops, restaurants in short walking distance and buses that take you straight to the airport & into the centre of the city. Tom is lovely & really helpful so any questions you have he can answer. Free wifi & well equipped kitchen so would definitely recommend oaklands. Would recommend asking for a room...

I Paid Almost 80 dollars for a private room, which is quit expensive. This Hostel was the Most expensive Hostel During my Time in New Zealand. My room was next to the entry and the living room. Therefore it was very noisy Even around 24am. The room itself was dark and very simple. No Towels and the Internet was working After...

I am sorry you didn't enjoy your stay but maybe you shouldn't book the cheapest economy double room in a backpacker hostel if you want to stay in a hotel. In Auckland in the high season the cheapest dorm is $30 per person sharing with at least 8 people. A two star hotel room close to the city is at...

These guys were great, facilities were good, all in all liked oaklands lodge, it had a big kitchen with everything, lockers in the dorms, HELPFUL staff, free stuff if you really need it (I picked up a hat). Mount Eden itself is a bit pricey, there is no big supermarket with the good deals nearby so get groceries in town....

This is definitely the best hostel in Auckland. I stayed there for my first two nights in New Zealand and extended my stay for a bit after that. Even felt the need to visit the hostel when I was back in Auckland a few days ago. To sum up, this place has: - Very friendly staff, both management and cleaners...

I only stayed for 1 night, but a great hostel in a really nice neighbourhood. Friendly staff and there are nice coffee shops and cafes around. Additionally the centre is close-by, just 10 minutes by bus!

Oaklands was a good choice. They're based in Mount Eden which is a pretty expensive area so beware of this before buying groceries here. Better off to get these for cheap in town (40 min walk or short bus for $3.5). Mount Eden is a must while you're there. Rooms are small and not spacious really.. no fan either so...

Oaklands Lodge Backpacker Hostel was a recommendation that surpassed my expectations. Friendly, clean and has all the facilities a traveller needs. Mount Eden Village is a 3 minute walk. Regular 20 minute bus ride to and from Auckland city centre.

Kitchen is clean and tidy, you can cook happily. Bathroom is clean too. However I wish the room ventilation would be better. No nearby groceries store, nearest should be 20min walk from hostel. Suggest buy before you stay there.

Thanks for the review! Whilst the nearest big supermarket is around 15 minutes walk their are grocery/fruit and vegetable and convenience stores within a minutes walk from the hostel. We are always looking to improve the experience of guests here so thank you for commenting on the ventilation although it is not something we have heard before.

This was the first time I had ever stayed in a hostel and I don't regret a minute. Nestled just under Mt. Eden, it is walkable to Central Business District yet is still comfortably out of the downtown bustle. I made some good friends here with both backpackers and staff while adjusting to living out of a backpack. It's got...

I only was able to stay three nights in this hostel and I was so sad when it was my time to move on. The staff was amazing, the people staying there were so friendly and welcoming with lots of recommendations on things to do. It's in a really cool part of town. Quiet but nice shops and restaurants to...
