My friend booked an entire Australia trip on Groupon so this was the hotel assigned to her for Melbourne. It's probably the equivalent of a Motel 6 it's clean and decent but super small with no services. It's location is OK but then again all of Melbourne is not very big so doesn't really matter where you stay. Also the...

This hotel is 5minutes walk from Southern Cross Station, which is handy if you are arriving late and get the Skybus from the airport, you can just walk straight out from Skybus drop off and straight down the street to the hotel. The staff were all very friendly, the Easter eggs on the bed for easter were very thoughtful. Its...

Basic room but comfortable. excellent location in the midst of the CBD, close to the station and tourist spots. Breakfast is provided at extra cost but for the price it was cheaper to go out to the local catering college, only a few blocks away towards the signal hill and Victoria market.. better value and better selection

I have been to this hotel before and after the renovations and if you are wanting accommodation on a fair budget that is clean and in an excellent CBD location then this is the place for you. Located on the corner of King and Little Bourke Sts, there is convenience galore with Ehitad Stadium a short stroll away, and some...

Usual hotel room. Well serviced. New internet password from the desk daily was a little irritating but I guess that they may have been able to give us that over the phone. Pleasant staff and good front desk service. Stayed either side of a trip to a family wedding in Canberra.

This is an old building that needs attention. The location is reasonable if you are attending Etihad Stadium for football and is on a one way street. Is suitable for short stay and do not have a vehicle. Vehicle parking is via carpark some 700 metres away and real great if you have luggage. There is no valet service and only...

I like the location, it's near the Bus and Train station and CBD is few steps away. However, there are few things I can't find how to turn off the aircon in winter season (still could turn down the temperature, well, I didn't ask them how to anyway) and there's no free hotel sandals.

Chose this motel for the location and value - quick business trip. The room on the first floor was a good size - very clean but a little in the noisy side particularly first thing in the morning as it backs into a lane where the deliveries come - the real surprise was the staff and food. Came in late...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
