All staff but one were wonderful, the building and facilities are great (the pool is lovely!). The swipe cards locked us out and the room I had had no fan and was really hot. Toilet had some issues too. Overall nice though

Great value for a two bedroom apartment, the room was spacious but looked a little tired, room became a little stuffy and there was no air conditioning. Beds were comfortable and pool area relaxing and clean.

Beautiful Heritage style building (So don't think very modern fancy of a 5 star hotel) & very helpful staff.. V.Good location; walking distance to public transport; In the heart of China town;Close to city center. Some studios Rooms are very small (Wouldn't recommend these for more than one person). Rooms and Apartments are modern looking, nice, clean & neat, yet...

Easy walk to the cricket, the shows, shopping and more. Rustic rooms with all the amenities including washer / dryer. Have been staying here for over 25 years, and will continue to do so. Overall a great experience

Property neglected. Staff poor. Room serviced once in four days and only after we asked. Air con not working. Asked twice to be fixed. No response! Has gone significantly downhill. Never again (and have stayed here more than twenty times!)

What a great hotel- situated in a very vibrant location. Close to all the good venues and places Melbourne (the world's most liveable city) has to offer. I highly recommend Gordon Place. It has spacious rooms, comfortable beds and appliances that help you feel like you're at home.

Booked two double bedroom apartment. Original apartment in no way comparable to that described and had non functioning air conditioning. Staff swapped without fuss. New room more reasonably appointed but also no functioning air conditioning. Parents room without functioning air conditioning throughout stay. Lost patience after second night and checked out. Staff responded excellently and refunded final night so we...

The air con in our 2br apartment was completely ineffective. It was 30 degrees in our apartment for the entire 3 days. It was like a sauna! Very little sleep and constantly sweating and uncomfortable.

Apartment in historical building with easy access to everything Melbourne offers. Reception staff are enthusiastic and apartment is aesthetically well presented. BUT closer examination shows the cleaning and maintenance routine might appeal to the Adams Family but not your average traveller. Cob webs, slug trails, broken blinds, shower doors with no internal knobs, customer service... let's keep it simple ...it...

Poor service once faults were reported. No voucher or compensation offered for sub standard room, i.e. Air Conditioning not working in one room and shower head blocked letting out very little water, making for a terrible shower. Make sure you confirm the type of room you are getting before attending.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
