The older parts of this hotel are very beautiful. Great position in Flinders St opposite the train station but don't worry, you can't hear the trains from any of the rooms. Easy to walk everywhere from this hotel. Rooms and beds are very comfortable. Some of the new rooms can be a bit small but if you're just sleeping there...

excellent location - 2 minutes walk to Flinders Street railway station, which basically takes you to everywhere in melbourne, or 5 minutes walk to Flinders/Elizabeth street tram stop, opposite Federation Square and St Paul's Cathedral; lots of restaurants and pubs around within walking distance; there's a small souvenir shop a few walks outside the hotel for you to do last...

The hotel is on Flinders Street just a few yards from the Flinders Street Station. The decor is Olde Worlde but the room was comfortable albeit on the small side. The staff were helpful with my two or three requests. The events staff did well too as far as my seminar room was concerned, coffee and snacks and so on....

Staff are friendly and the building is amazing. The rooms are beautiful as the original features have been preserved. This is close to many highlights of Melbourne and just across from Flinders St station.

The hotel is in an excellent location. Close to transport and everything you need. I was disappointed with being given the wrong room at check in but it was sorted the next day when I followed up again.

What a lovely surprise this hotel is. It's really well located in Melbourne CBD and easily walkable distances to Bourke Street Mall, Southbank, Rod Laver Arena. I stayed here as a conference was located here and the whole experience was terrific. The room was lovely and elegant and felt rather like a London hotel with high ornate ceilings and a...

It was a nice hotel, but the set up is weird and the lication is icky. Our room was very loud with the train nearby. The bathroom was so small that I actually had to step INTO the shower to use the toilet.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
