I went to the grand Hyatt for a conference over two days in August. Upon registration I was pleasantly surprised with a room upgrade to a suite. The room was very spacious and stylishly decorated. I was particularly impressed by the designer leather chair by the window. In terms of location you cannot ask for a better spot. Close to...

Friday evening 6 pm. Thought we'd have a quick drink before going on to dinner at The Cut. For a start the chair-and-table configuration in the Lobby Bar seemed unfriendly. The vast majority of the tables were designed for groups of four or more, and yet all were occupied by couples. Had anyone bothered to work out the usual incidence...

The Hyatt's always of of high quality. This hotel is definitely one of those, but today needs a major update. My room had a great view towards the MCG, but that's where it stopped. On the negative side everything in the hotel room had a dated feel to it. The TV could not change channels and then had to get...

My friend and I stayed in a suite on Friday night with access to the lounge upstairs. It was lovely to be able to open the glass door in the bedroom and get some fresh air and the spa bath was heavenly after a busy day. The bathroom amenities smell divine. When we went upstairs to the lounge we were...

Our stay at the Hyatt was fantastic. This is a truly stunning hotel, and the fitout in our room with stylish and luxurious. We overlooked South Melbourne and enjoyed waking up to the beautiful morning overlooking this area. The bathrooms are large and every possible need is well thought out and catered for. The beds are truly divine and I...

Overall a pleasant stay. Staff are very responsive to requests. Hallways and restaurant lighting have very dim lighting. Rooms generally comfortable and well appointed. They also do an excellent job catering to special dietary requirements.

Excellent service, comfortable spacious rooms, friendly accommodating staff. The dining experience is fantastic and caters to most tastes and although it's located in the CBD, it's very reasonably priced.

Stayed in the Grand Hyatt with some colleagues on a weekend planning retreat and had a double room. The room was okay however looking a little tired. Unfortunately the double room was only King singles so a little uncomfortable compared to other hotels in the city with double rooms. The cleanliness of the room was slightly lacking with the in...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
