Very handy to our conference venue. The room was tidy with a comfortable bed. The bathroom is a bit small. Staff were helpful with a smile which is great. Hotel is not far from public transport and Chinatown.

We had a corner room and It was big and comfortable. Great location and convenient for shopping and food when everything is just round the corner. Friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend this to friends planning to go Melbourne.

It is situated in a good location...the breakfast is good value...the restaurant meals and service were excellent. The only problem was with only one of the 2 lifts working...caused more delay than expected.

The Grand Chancellor positions itself as a 4 star hotel - it is not. It says it has newly furbished rooms and TVs - its rooms are tiny and pokey. The best thing going for the hotel is its location. Nothing else.

The staff were wonderful. But the decor of the corridors was tacky. I booked one of the best rooms and was only on the 6th floor. The bathroom was tiny & no bath. It felt small. Unfortunately I won't be back.

great place to stay in the city. Good variety to choose from for dinner. Great staff and comfortable rooms. Reasonably priced for the location. Would recommend to stay here if needing accommodation in Melbourne

A very convenient location with great facilities for multiple workshops. Team members went above and beyond to help make the workshop a success and this was appreciated. Close to some great restaurants, chinatown and shopping.

One night stay, nearly as quick as unlocking the door at home. just a few minutes longer. A good view of the church across the street. Just a few steps away from many restaurants, and even a bar just on the corner.

After reading some average reviews about Grand Chancellor, i honestly did not have high expectations. HOWEVER, after staying there i was pleasantly surprised. The hotel staff are extremely lovely and always willing to help. We were also (very luckily) placed on the 17th floor right under the rooftop pool. Unfortunately for us we forgot to bring our swimmers but don't...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
