Location is great for business travellers. The hotel facilities are adequate but overall the hotel is tired and dated. Good room service menu and friendly staff at the front desk. Can be quite noisey when at full occupancy, but that may have been my room location (next to lifts).

Staff were great. Room needed considerable maintenance and the lift was out of service the whole time. View was of a brick wall. Didnt receive value for money unfortunately. The location was great and easy acces to trams and food

This hotel is well located in the center of Melbourne's CBD, however we were dismayed to see a rat running through the dining room on our first night and amazed that the reception staff, upon being told were not concerned. On that basis we did not eat in the dining room so can't comment on the food. The bar staff...

Location is very central, friendly staff, comfortable room. Only complaint is that the wifi is very slow and kept dropping out. I would recommend this hotel, it is close to food and shopping precincts

Check-in and check-out fast and efficient. Very good location to visit the city and take tours. The bed was comfortable and the shower had a good strong flow of water unlike some hotels where it trickles. The pool is heated and very clean. The staff very friendly and helpful. We would stay there again.

From my very first stay in 1999 to my latest in January 2017... exceptional value and the room service is truly outstanding as is the vibe of all the staff. My Home away from Home in Melbourne. Everyone I have recommended the Grand Chancellor to (over 30 people) have enjoyed the experience and return whenever they are in Melbourne. What...

The staff were all friendly and helpful. My check-in and check-out were very smooth, and the hotel was very helpful in allowing me to store luggage there for the day. The room was lovely and clean as well. Although I didn't order breakfast ahead of time, room service took my order and brought me a great meal quickly at what...

Whilst well located within walking distance to to good shopping and restaurants the overall cleanliness was not up to standard with a few foreign hairs still in the bathroom. Hard to comeback from there. Only ever stayed in a Chancellor Hotel once before in Tasmania and it was superb. Shame they haven't been able to create a consistent standard throughout...

Stayed for 3 nights, nice and central to the theatre. Meals were good the first night in the restaurant, we had the steak special. Staff very friendly in the bar. Room was ok, but could have been cleaned better than it was.

The hotel was within walking distaance to the theatre we were attending. Parking availabiltiy was a plus. Within walking distance to all other venues we were wanting to access. Driving from the country the hotel was easy to find and we had no difficulty getting ti it.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
