Basic room which was in need of a makeover. Room smelt musty like at some point there had been a water leak! Very convenient location and as Mercure Swanston where we normally stay was fully booked we opted for this hotel. Staff were all friendly and obliging which made up for room. Lifts weren't always reliable and often one was...

We booked a "Superior King". King size bed: Tick. Good shower: Tick. Superior? Not really. Clearly we were unaware that this was the poor relation to the Mercure Grand. Room was small and the bathroom was tiny. Lovely staff and great location. Be warned: superior doesn't mean spacious!

It was in a good location near the trams and centre of Melbourne. The staff helped me charge my phone when I left my charger at home. My room was small but I was out most of the time sightseeing with AAT Kings to The Ocean Road and to Phillip Island to see the Penguins even though we have Penguins...

My partner and I stayed in the hotel for 4 nights. It was pretty good for us because we never spend much time in the hotel, so the location was great, you can walk to everywhere. The room was small and a bit noise (from the hallways) but very clean. The showers were good too.

Tiny rooms not worth the money, the bathroom was nice but that's the nicest thing you can say. Partners wallet got stolen in city with room key in it and still got charged room key loss, overall wouldn't stay there again dissapointed for Mercure

Dear ashleighhiggins77 Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that the accommodation provided was below your expectations, as well as to hear that your partner's wallet got stolen in the city. Though I am a little confused regarding your remarks on being charged for the missing room key. As we never charge the guests for any room keys. I...

The hotel is very dowdy, on the website it says recently refurbished. .? The bed was not comfortable, the towels had holes in them, the picture of the bathroom on the advert is not to scale. The shower is very narrow, there is nowhere to put your cosmetics. I took a more expensive room that included coffee and water, these...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
