This hotel is located in downtown Melbourne, on the same street and block that China town is on. So it was very busy and the closest restaurants were all oriental. Once we walked further up or took the tram it was better. The hotel itself was very nice, concierge was very accommodating, providing us with a complimentary bottle of wine...

We had a king bed delux room and it was great with seperate bedroom on the corner of the building and lounge that was well appionted. The room is a little dated but the best thing about this hotel is that it is on swanston street right where the tram stops for bourke street. I would reccomend a room on...

Unbeatable location in the midst of CBD shopping, bars and food. Comfortable beds and staff kindly added a trundle for third booked guest (which was equally as comfortable). Popcorn ceiling and bathrooms a bit outdated and rooms nothing grand, but perfectly adequate for price and location. Very clean hotel, friendly staff, quiet rooms. Would definitely stay here again for location...

First impression, not great! The room was outdated and smelled a little 'old'. I had trouble with the Rv not being able to get free to air tv to watch news etc The bathroom had reminders of previous occupants which made me feel, how clean are these rooms really! Dinner at the restaurant was average, should have taken advice from...

Not the flashiest hotel in town, but a great choice in the middle of town.....walk to everything. Staff are friendly efficient and professional. Rooms clean and comfortable, though not as modern or well decorated as the more expensive hotels in town. Bathrooms very compact and very clean, though not the safest environment for elderly guests. Even for a "young" guest...

Booked through accor plus website witch offers very special rate to members. I didn't expect much but it turned out to be the most pleasant stay recently. This hotels location cannot be beaten if you are here to hit the shops. Each exit puts you amongst it. This hotel is not 4.5 stars. The room we had was fine and decent size. This hotel is situated in the middle of the city literally! 5-10 mins walk to Melbourne Centre, QV, Flinders St station. It is very close to the tram stop as I caught the free zone tram around too. I have traveled to 20+ countries in the last 45 years, and so many of the hotels outside the USA are too frugal to include a nonslip surface or a tub mat in the bathtub. If I were 25 and an ice skater, this would be fine, I am over 70 and not an ice skater. Since the Swanston made...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
