For anyone who likes away from it all, with animals on tap, then this is a must. One of the highlights of the stay is nightly visits from wild Tassie Devils and if you're lucky Spotted Tailed Quolls, Ring Tailed Possums etc. There are also platypus in the river and a variety of birds. The cabins are self catering, but...

We stayed in one of these cabins for two nights. I wish we had stayed longer. After looking back on our entire month in Australia, we enjoyed the two nights here more than anything else, including the Great Barrier Reef! The reasons include: ability to see rare native wildlife in the wild! close to hiking trails in beautiful areas, quite...

We have just come back to England after a fantastic holiday in Tasmania including time on Flinders Island, and visits to Stanley, Corinna, Tasman Peninsula, SW Wilderness and more. It was all wonderful but if we could ever come back and could only revisit one of the places we stayed in it would have to be Mountain Valley. As others...

Mountain Valley is one of our most favourite destinations, both as a family, and to recommend to others. It's hardly surprising visitor reviews are overwhelmingly excellent. This is a destination like no other. It's the ONLY place in Tasmania to see WILD Tasmanian Devils. You don't expect conventional luxury but you will get the advantage of a level of personal...

We have only just returned to the UK from a trip to Aus and Tasmania. Staying at Mountain Valley was one of the highlights of our long trip. Pat and Len could not have been more helpful. The cabin was very spacious with fabulous log fires which we lit but probably didn't need. It was just fun. And thanks to...

The pictures of the accommodation on the website don't do it justice. We had a family cabin that was wonderful. Even though we didn't see a Tasmanian devil (they usually come out in the wee hours of the night/morning) or a platypus, it was wonderful sitting in the riverbank hearing all the stories about the flora and fauna of the...

We booked this place because of other TripAdvisor reviews but our experience was very disappointing. We're from Tasmania so we're not swayed by potential sightings of rare wildlife. But we do expect value for money. Our room looked like it was rough built in the 1980's, and, apart from a new air conditioner, hasn't been updated, or cleaned since. Dust,...

We came here for the wildlife and weren't disappointed. Close up views of spotted tail quolls and Tasmanian Devils at night from the comfort of our cabin. Cabin was well equipped, very clean and comfortable. There was a nice big fireplace though we didn't need it as the weather was warm. We stayed in the middle cabin of a terrace...

These cabins are literally at the end of the road. The last four km. are actually a track, so beware if you have a low clearance vehicle. The cabins are self contained, but basic. Hot showers are excellent and the small kitchen is functional. You must bring in all provisions. You come here for wildlife, not luxury. Len, the owner,...

You come here for the amazing wildlife encounters and glorious scenery as well as the owner's unmatched knowledge of the area. No WiFi, phone signal, shops or TV here. Self-catering so bring supplies (some very limited supplies are provided) but there's plenty of cutlery etc. Chalets are quaint, clean and functional and set in beautiful surroundings. The outfit appears to...
