The buiding is a nice old Victorian house, with lot of character, the staff is helpful and friendly. Apart from this positive comments the room was very dirty, we noticed hair and body fluids stains everywhere on the linen. On the back of the bed there was a lot of insecticide powder, and the bed was infested with bedbugs! We...

Room: Double en suite, $75 per night Positive features: Old but lovely coloured bathroom with bathtub and towels, witty décor (some might find it offensive), cosy atmosphere, free internet and TV in room, very nice staff, beer (from tap too) and other beverages available cheap, evening specials (e.g. free meal with any drink purchased), breakfast included (but we never tried...

I was recommended Annie's Place by a backpacker in Darwin, and I'm so glad I stayed there. I was there for 6 days and had the most amazing time, the staff are all so friendly - and the built in bar in the courtyard definitely gives the place a sociable atmosphere. Drinks are also very cheap! And if you buy...

10 out of 10 for friendly hostel staff and good value daily excursions/hostel meals offered but this place needs a good clean. The daily cleaning is not done by proper cleaners but backpackers getting free bed and board, who use washing up liquid and cold water. Hence the build up of daily grime never gets attention, check out the skirting...

We stayed for 6 nights in a double room. The room was a former dorm room so was quite spacious. The bed was two single matresses put together on a king size frame. So that was fine. The room did need a proper dusting but asides that it was ok. The bathroom was fairly clean but it bcked onto the...

“Rooms at the back open on to courtyard so are noisy if you want the windows open on a hot night. Also, one of the double rooms at back has just a very, very tiny window and is quite sparse. You can also ask for the room with black and white pictures of topless men and women all over the wall. We didn't like it ourselves but apparently many find it tasteful. Probably depends who you're travelling with.”

“Ok i am off to Annies on a secret mission with pen and paper in hand to get to the bottom of all this as during my stay in the past i found it hard to complain about anything apart from the staff being rude and unfriendly. I will post my fair and accurate review on my return. I find it so hard to believe that we are talking about the same place that i mostly have fond memories of.”
